1. Cheers mate Thanks for your links i'm already on the database for career one and seek but the other ones are new to me. I get the impression that it's more who you know than what you know just to get your foot in the door. Im hoping the new year brings something along whatever it is. Thanks again and Happy New Year to you.
 2. Hi all Been in Oz for 2 months now but unable to get work. Im an english plumber and I have just been granted my provisional plumbing licence. I know its a bad time at christmas but am getting desperate for any kind of work not just plumbing anything. Im in the Gold Coast area but dont mind travelling even up to the mines if there is work. If there is anyone out there who knows of anything or even some advice it would be really appreciated. Apart from the lack of work everything else is great, my family have settled and even the dog feels at home its just the work situation. So any help guys please!!
 3. hi there, i am just going up to my mum now to tell her we have booked our flights and leave in 8wks !! she does know we will be gone before xmas but its hearing the final day!!. I also told everyone soon as we started planning ,but it does still come to people as a shock when your visas come through !! .I worry to much about other peoples feelings ,which is silly as we are all excited as a family .good luck
 4. we have some people putting doubts in our minds all the time e.g. its a sandy desert !!! are sure you have thought about what your doing !!! etc etc mind you these are the people who have never been to oz so how do they know !!I have now learnt to rise above these people and remind myself this is what we want to do as a family .Try not to let them get you down as alot of people wish they were doing it but havn't got the guts !!! good luck.we to are going to the gold coast

 6. Hi i feel the same as you !!we have just been excepted for oz whilst we are excited my brother is making me feel guilty leaving my mum behind she is 76 and we lost our dad 4yrs ago .I do lots for my mum and she see my 2 girls alot so i guess my brother feels like he will have to look after her when she is older .my mum is a very fit lady for her age but i think hes thinking long term .The way i see it she may never become ill so i have to live for today .when i am with my hubby and girls we are so positive and excited but i know what you mean as soon as your with close family and friends your thinking (this could be the last birthday etc in the uk ) I have only just got off the phone from my brother and have been in tears so thought i would come on and see if anyone else felt the same and by luck read your one .sorry for waffling but its good to know your not the only one!!! thanks .
 7.
thanks for you advice very helpful from Tim

 8.
hi nikki, i took my day to day tool box and a bucket of extra tools, and, yes definately take the benders and cordless drill, also a square is useful, take blowtorch and solder, rags (as i couldnt find any when i was there) spirit level, ptfe tape and jet blue(or similar), if he is going to accrington, prepare for the longest walk in the world, but the workshop guys were brilliant ( even do the work for you when the examiner is busy, one of the guys on my assessment was stuck on the brazing, so the workshop guy did it all for him) good luck, but is really quite easy
