  1. OK so I realised it's not about the degree as such, but the state are only bothered about a positive skills assessment, so I need to find out if VETASSESS will give a positive skill assessment based on experience rather than based on degree!
  2. Can no one help out with this query?? Thanks.
  3. Morning all, I have a quick question and wondered if anyone would be able to help me out with the answer! My husband is a Training & Development professional, he has 9 yrs experience doing the job (10 by the time we want to apply next year), he does not have a University Degree, there is no degree that he would of/could of taken for this profession, suppose the nearest thing would of been some kind of business degree, he has his "GCSE's" and he has 2 Business Courses that he took at college which were passed (think they were GNVQ's) and he has a University Course qualification for CITP which is a Certificate in Training Practice (recognised in UK but probably not Aus) but like I say no Actual degree of any kind. We were wanting to apply to WA for State Sponsorship as his Job is on the State Sponsorship Schedule list but have been told that because he has no degree he won't be accepted, however I have read the following statement under the "skill level" for the relevant Anzsco code that indicates to me, that because he has 10 yrs experience we can get the state sponsorship.....however I'm conscious of the words "may substitute" in the sentence. Does anyone have any experience of this? If we can't get there on SS we can't go, I have been told to go Employer Sponsored but with a young family in tow (the kids will be 18 months and nearly 6) we don't want to move all the way to Aus on a visa that could quite easily be retracted at any time, we think it's probably too risky! thanks in advance for any help guys and fingers crossed the replies are good :biglaugh:
  4. Thank you Pumpkin for your reply. The only place his job is currently on the list is ACT but it seems like there are not very many job opportunities available in the area and housing is excessivly expensive, I know some people would go anywhere just to "get in" but I'd rather not put the extra pressure on ourselves before we even start by going to the ACT which is high cost of living and low opportunity of jobs. Like you say though, were not applying for a visa right now and certainly not in the next 18 months so anything could change by then!! I think when we do finally take the plunge the first step for us will be to see a consultation from a immi company and see if there is anything else our job roles would come under (like my IT company named role is not listed but the things I do, I have been told, may come under a different name on the lists for example). We shall have to live in hope for now! Thank you
  5. thanks you for that libbysmum deffinatley very helpfull indeed, he does have a degree in his specific job however he is looking in to doing the next stage of training NLP which I believe is quite specilised, however it costs about 3k to do the course and his current employer won't pay for it, but once he got that his job would be considered Specilised so I guess there may be a very small chance we could get in some where with an off list nomination, I guess we would just have to apply to the indavidual states at the time and see if any of them consider him specilised. There is always a glimmer of light at the end of every tunnel I suppose. I have just been looking at ACT there are a few jobs that meet hubbies current job exactly and admin jobs for me (I want to get "out" of IT really, just want something to earn a few quid!) so thats OK but my good the rentals are few and far between and very pricey, the cheapest was $540 p/w and it was hardly desirable, the kind of thing were wanting is more like $800p/w and as for buying....out of the question!!
  6. Hi Michele, Its actually Hubbys job, I'm not sure it would translate in to that really (although admittedly I have limited knowledge in what he does, only the basics, he designs training plans for financial companies and then presents them to the staff, be it new starters or existing staff who are having more training, it does involve alot of planning and organising and it is now a role in the UK listed under the HR department side of things, I don't really know much more than that TBH) however I think ACT must of been the ONLY state I didn't check yet (or I did and missed it :chatterbox:) lets hope its still in there in a few years when the process starts for us as even though its not where we want to be it would be the only gateway in by the looks of it and if im correct we would only have to stay there for 2 years before moving anywhere I think. Thanks very much for your help Michelle you have cheered me up pointing out the ACT :wubclub:
  7. thank you very much for your help and interpretation, looks like it is the same as mine, which is highly unfortunate and a kick in the teeth as if neither job is on any SS lists (ever!) then i'd say were stuck in blighty. If they change the State lists every year then I suppose there is a small change he could get on one, although I doubt it as its not a common job I think states would ask for (Training & Development Professional) but then there is the risk if I switch to say the DBA team at work (Database Administrators) which is in a few states Lists, in 3/4 years when we start the process that may not be on any states lists anymore so its an imposible guess and right not seems like an impossible dream. I think ill just quietley live in hope for the next few years!
  8. *Posted in migration as well as wasn't sure where would be best to post, sorry mods, please delete which ever is appropriate if needed * Hi all, Well now all the "new" immigration information seems to have been released I'm a little confused!! My Husbands profession was on the Old Shedule 1 as a wanted profession although worded slightly different to the UK name, now its has been removed from the new Schedule 3 and is ONLY on the Schedule 4 State Sponsored list and the name matches exactly to his UK job role. The problem is, I have checked all the State Sponsored lists that they have released and I can not find his profession on ANY of them. What is the point in the government putting a profession on the schedule 4 so people can be sponsored but then no states put the same professions on their list. I take it if his profession is not on any states lists then we can go no further with this from his professional side?? A second question, although its hard for anyone to answer, what is the general sense that the imigration rules will be changed again with in the next 5 years?? We were planning to finally make the move in approx 3 years but Im now pregnant which means 1 yr off work, which reults in quite a fair hit on our savings, which we will need so we have upped the time back up to 5 years with this new development, Im wondering if I should move departments (I work in IT but my job is not on Sched 3 or 4 but if I applied for a job in one of the teams that is, I would by then have 3-5 yrs experience in the other role, although no formal qualification) or if we should hope Hubbys profession goes back on to Sched 3 or at the very least some states add it to their SOL!

  10. Excellent, perfect reply and exactly the answer I was hoping for!! Thanks for the confirmation
  11. I have found peters website, thanks, I can send him an assessment and CV through there which is great as he will beable to help with the qualifications side of things. I would still like to find out though if we go on a skilled visa for me and hubby comes as my spouse he can be the earner, thats my main bug bear as I dont want to come over and have to work in IT basically!
  12. Hi thanks for your response. Yes I have PMd PTLabs before actually, I couldn't remember his name though so thanks for the memory jog  I will have to fill in an assement form for them to see what qualifications I need rather than just on the job training! Thanks for replying
  13. Hi all, This is probably a dense question and is possibly in something I have already read but my head is quite honestley swimming with information! I work in IT but have no official qualifications, my husband works as a Training & Development manager which is on the State Sponsorship Section 4 as "Training Officer" but if we wanted to come in under a skilled visa and I did my official qualifications (which would be further backed up by work experience in the field which will be 5+ years in this specific area ) would I than have to seek work in that field?? Our plan for coming over (as although I work in IT I don't actually enjoy it at all, I just "fell" in to the roles!) would be for my husband to be the main earner full time in a Training roll if possible (or anything else he could do) and I would just get a part time (full time if we found monry tight) in a basic admin/office job. So basically I want to know if its worth me doing my qualils here so we can apply on a skilled Visa even though I dont want to work in that "skill" when Im over there? Thanks in advance for any advise
  14. Ahh OK, Sorry I didn't realise they State Lists could/would be set to change as well. Will just keep my fingers crossed then untill that information comes out ot this will all be just a pipe dream! Thanks
  15. Thanks for the new List George... Ahh Hubbies job was on OLD SOL under GSM but now on new one only under SS which is a bit of a pain in the bum E.T.A Actually its a total pain in the bum as I have just checked each states list and his profession is on none of their lists.
