  1. Hi With regards bar work, you may find that difficult as you need to have a licence to do this. Not like the UK where anyone can do it. The course can be done over a couple of days and isn't too expensive (worth googling it) Commutable areas for you (in order to live in vibrant areas) are - Neutral Bay, Crows Nest, St Leonards, North Sydney, Chatswood, Lane Cove (Basically, anywhere on the train line that takes you to Uni) Feel free to email me (nick_jenkinson@hotmail.com) as i don't normally come on PIO anymore. Just occasionally. Cheers
  2. Hi, You might struggle to find somewhere due to it being such a short term rental period. Most agents push for 12 months or at least 6 months leases You will need a months bond and a month in advance. I'm thinking a 3 bed house in Epping is going to be in the region of $600/$700 per week. Epping is very quiet. If you dont mid a short commute, you may want to consider Crows Nest or round that area as there is a train station in St Leonards and both these areas have good night life (student essentials!) An alternate is to look on gumtree closer to the time. You wont be able to secure a normal rental here whilst you are in UK. All you would be able to secure is a holiday rental type property or hotel. Might also be worth asking folk on here if they have any space for a few months and offering $$ per person per week. Good luck Nicholas NB: have a look at the following site: http://www.domain.com.au/Search/rent/State/NSW/Area/Northern-Suburbs/Region/Sydney-Region/Suburb/Epping/?bedrooms=3&displmap=0 Looks like you can get cheaper at about $450 a week

  5. Hi Dave Myself and the soon to be wife have been out here about 18 months. Don't sweat it on finding accomm. There is always plenty on domain.com.au. We started with a holiday rental in Neutral Bay for 3 weeks and in that time found a suitable unit. On your budget, you should be able to find a good 2 bed unit close to the CBD. I'm in Cammeray (North shore) which is a 10 min bus journey to the city, 20 min drive to Bondi and 20 min drive to Manly. Give me a shout when you land. Would be happy to meet up for a coffee/beer. As long as you wife isn't a blue? ;-) Good luck
  6. I work all over the North as part of my job. If i were you (you sound about my age/stage in life) I would look to live in either of the following: Cammeray Crowns Nest Neutral Bay All three have plenty going on in terms of bars, restaurants and shops (Cammeray being the quieter of the three). Your 10 mins from the City Centre, and twenty mins from North Ryde. Plenty of beaches nearby too. Manly would take 20 mins to get to or you could go down to Balmoral which is 10 mins away. I can get to Bondi down the eastern distributor in 25 mins! Go any further out and you would be getting into serious burbia.. Good luck
  7. Hi mate Just inbox me your email address and i'll get you on the list Cheers
  8. OzScouser Yes, still looking. Send me your personal email and i will add you to the email list. Goes out each Monday and its a first reply first in scenario Cheers
  9. Hi mate Yes, still looking for new players. Inbox me with your personal email and we can add you to the weekly call list. Where abouts in Sydney are you?
  10. Hi Paula and Jay I have friends who live over Coogee way. They love it. They are early 30's and seem to find it entertaining enough for nights out and restaurants etc. I've been there a couple of times to visit and much prefer it to Bondi. We live on the lower north shore, but if we were to live over that side of the bridge, we would consider Coogee. Anyway, hopefully not to long before your house sells and you can head out here. We left Liverpool a year ago and are loving it
  11. Katie Only just seen your response. I'm sure you girls can do a bit of both cleaning, cooking and shopping (groceries) :-) ha ha... Catch up when you arrive.
  12. Neuatral Bay is where we began our Ozzie dream. Nice spot. Plenty of cafe's restaurants and hotels (pubs). The footy is at the Rocks just under the Harbour Bridge. So from you it would be a short bus journey. We live nearby Neutral Bay in Cammeray. Depending on where you are working, both areas are good spots. Send me through your email and I will send you my mobile for when yo arrive. Cheers
  13. HI mate, Not long for you then. The footy is usually on a Wednesday evening, so usnure what the OH's do. Prbably at home cooking and cleaning ;-) Looking at getting something sorted for Sunday arvo's though. We'll have to arrange a beer for when you both arrive if you don't know too many people
  14. Hi Yes, a mate of mine plays on Saturdays. Season has just begun. You might make it in time to get into a team. If not, sure a team would let you go down and train with them at least. Where abouts in Sydney you heading to?
  15. Hi all, I work for a company in Sydney called Ochre Health. We manage medical center's in the outback and metro locations (largely NSW/ACT). We are expanding to other areas. We are actively looking for GP's and GP/VMO's. We provide excellent packages and full sponsorship and we will work with you to gain your FRACGP and perm residence if that is your aim. We can assist you if you are DWS or AON and with PESCI exams. If you are interested in further details, please inbox me and i will provide you with further details. Regards Nicholas
