  1. Hi Chris, My Hub wrote the post, he works there. The shift pattern is great 6 on & 6 off & usually lots of opportunity for OT too to get more $ ! They are a really great company to work for  Good luck with whatever you decide on X
  2. Chris, there is an AME job advertised on SEEK.COM with Cobham at Perth domestic airport. I have been meaning to come on here for a couple of weeks now to let people know the job will be coming soon. I work for Cobham as an AME, the money isn't the best on the airport, but it is the best shift pattern (10 hr shifts, mornings, afternoons and nights, 6 on - 6 off :biglaugh:) Working on B717, BAe 146 and Dash-8. Hope this helps. Al

Hi, Hubs is also unlicensed, hence really why it took so long. All jobs advertised were for licensed engineers but you do get the odd AME jobs too. There are lots of different companies here as you have the international & the domestic & then there is jandacot too which is all smaller planes & helicopters & is very busy! A few good sites you could look on are http://www.seek.com.au , http://www.westjobs.com.au , http://www.jobswest.com.au , http://www.macrorecruitment.com.au . Good luck Hun, I'm sure something will come up. Hubs has just told me China Southern at Jandacot are after people at the moment, it's being advertised on Seek! X

Hi, I'm afraid I'm not to well up on schools Hun. My son was 16 when we moved here & went to TAFE instead of going to school. It really depends on, if you want to be North or South of the river, what work you do, & what you call affordable Hun! Let me know a few more details & I will try & help. X

  15. Hi, We're in Meadow Springs on the outskirts of Mandurah, feel free to get in touch when you arrive & we can sort something out. Good luck with the move. X
  16. Yes hun I did. Searched every where, they may have the granules but not the powder. There used to be an english shop down this way that sold it but it's shut down. Thanks hun X
  17. Hi, The mozzies have been bloody dreadful this year. The council do spray for the but it hasn't helped much! There's been a lot in the paper about it & everyone say's in there that they've been living here for years & they've never had them like this year, so here's hoping it was a one off! X
  18. Thanks Tony, Can you remember if they sell proper Bisto powder, it's about the only thing I miss. Oh, I do miss new potatoes too especially Jersey Royals. X
  19. We're are now just starting our second year here. It's supposedly been the hottest summer no record , personally I've loved every minute of it & can't wait for it to come back because I'm frozen at this time of year! LOL. All the new houses are built on small blocks ( most of them anyway), but you can buy older properties on big blocks. There's nothing better to us than having a 5 acre plot but unfortunately it's well out of our reach. You don't feel like your remote when you're here, it's a fab place & there are plenty of hills! X

Hi, nice area, very quiet as the others said it's very new ( or most of it!). You have a reasonable shopping area in Kwinana ( soon to have a big makeover) some shops in Wellard & another train station & it's only 15 mins drive to a big shopping centre in Rockingham & gorgeous beaches.
  21. Hi Valerie, For jobs ( of which there's usually quite a lot advertised ) have a look on http://www.thewest.com.au , http://www.westjobs.com.au & http://www.seek.com.au . The journey up to Perth driving from those areas usually takes about an hour but in rush hour could take up to 2 ! The train is approx 45 mins. Can't help with schools as mine is at TAFE. Good luck with all your plans X
  22. Hi Karen & Colin, Mandurah & surrounding areas are all really lovely . We are on Meadow Springs which I can highly recommend but I don't think we will be disappointed with anywhere down here. Have a look at http://www.realholidays.com.au ,http://www.stayz.com.au ,http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk , http://www.rent-a-home.com.au , http://www.aussiemove.com , http://www.lets-perth.com & http://www.rentalsinoz.com. Hopefully you should be able to find something on there. Good luck with all your plans X Sorry, can't help with schools as my son went straight to TAFE when we moved over but I think there is a government site you can go on that the schools are on.
  23. Hi there, firstly, mahoosive congrats on the visa. There are jobs advertised all the time for both of you. Have a look at http://www.thewest.com.au , http://www.westjobs.com.au , http://www.seek.com.au . There's always lots of jobs advertised in The West Australian newspaper, saturday is usually the best day to get one. We've been here just over a year now & spent ( as quite a lot of folks do ) at the beach on xmas morning with a bottle of fizz. I can highly recommend it. At new year we went to a rodeo, also a fab night! But of course there is lots of other things you could do. We stayed in Port Kennedy when we first arrived, then moved down to Meadow Springs ( outskirts of Mandurah) & have loved our 12 months down her, it's beautiful, but now we are after our own place & are going to be moving back up north a bit, some where between Port Kennedy & Parmelia, I won't miss the mossies down here!. Hubby works at the airport & it will knock 20-30 mins of his journey! Anyway, hope this helps you ( just a bit ) PM me when you come over if you want to meet for a drink etc! Good luck with all your plans X
  24. Mahoosive Congrats & good luck with all your plans X
