1. Hi We are a family of 4 and live in Redlands (just on outskirts of Brisbane). Perhaps a breakdown of our expenses may help you - I know this type of information was invaluable to us before we left UK as you can get a better idea as to what you may look at paying out....... Rent - $500pw (thats a 4 bed level storey house in a secure complex with shared pool) Water - Don't pay when renting (although this can depend - I think some may??) Council rates - Don't pay when renting Electric - Approx $400 a quarter Car Insurance - $600/year Rego (for car) - $350ish for a year Phone/Internet - $80/month Foxtel (equivalent to Sky) - $100/month Food - approx $150-$200/week Petrol - $45/week approx - (husband works about 15km away) School - my kids go to good public schools - no fees, however you do pay for stationery (and text book hire in High school) I commute into Brisbane by train and pay $60/week on fares. Hope this helps. Good luck

 6. Hi Donnie We are going out to Brisbane in just under four weeks. We are a family of 4. We have paid $2142 for a four week stay - approx $535 per week. We are staying in a place in Mango Hill called Headstart Homestay. You can check out thier website. The family that run it are also originally from the UK and therefore have been really helpful. Hope this helps:wink: Amanda
 7. Hi I am not sure where I should put this on this Forum - however I really wanted to make you all aware about this company (If you have not heard of them). We are in the position (as are many others) ready to make our move out to Australia. There are various things that need to be done, one of which is selling our cars. We are using the Autotrader, Gumtree, EBay etc route. I posted on Gumtree last night and Autotrader two nights ago. Anyway, we had a phonecall today from "Car-Data" saying they can sell our car at the guaranteed asking price within 7 days. All they wanted from us was a upfront fee of £89. When my husband queried why they need £89 up front they said that this was to cover their advertising, admin costs. I goggled Car Data and came up with pages and pages (I mean loads of pages) of people having allegedly been scammed by them. Luckily we are now fully informed and will not be using their services, but just wanted to make others aware. Anyway - Hope this helps!!!

Hi Eera.

Can I just ask how long you have been in Mackay (I just guessed that is where you are so sorry if you are not). Also i wondered if you could help me out with a few queries?

Husband may have an interview with Komatsu in Mackay. It sounds like a good job for him. We have a PR visa so we aren't coming on a Sponsorship. We were planning to locate in Brisbane but this job offer has come up. I am just a bit in two minds (probably because i have been reading some negative posts!!).

We have two boys (13 and 10). I just want to be sure there is enough for there up in Mackay. One of them is into Gymnastics and the other is really keen on drama and has just started a really good drama school here - he is not keen on the move to Aus - but i have assured him we will find him a drama club when we arrive. Any ideas if there are places/groups/clubs for them?

Thanks
