  1. I'm sure you will be able to find work, just not as a plumber as its a licensed trade.
  2. I usually work fifo so yes the money is better but when working around Perth the money is pretty bad. All the employers want to pay as little as possible. I'm from Ireland so the hourly Perth rate is about the same as I was getting at home but its more expensive here and there is never a long run of work. So I am constantly on the look out for a new job and never feel secure. To be honest I am only here because there is no work in Ireland and I'm not going home to sign on the dole. If there was work at home I would be go back.
  3. Oh okay, things get changed so often it's hard to keep up.
  4. I'm on a 487 these were done away with and replaced with the 489. All of wa was also reclassified as regional. So I would advise you to double check that you can't work in Perth.
  5. There is stuff all work in wa at the moment. I'm a plumber, been here 6 yrs and I have only worked 6 weeks since the start of the year. It's up to people to decide what do about coming here but I know all employers look for local experience when employing people.
  6. So I had a chat with them earlier. They said that a standard return is $180 but because I had 2 redundancy payments from employers. Also they said they had to work out how many work related kilometres I could claim for it pushed the price up. Still seems a bit much though.
  7. Cheers for all the replies. I will see what they say when they call me back.
  8. Yes I am going to question that and perhaps ask for an itemised bill. I think it is too much.
  9. Hey all just in the process of doing my tax return this year. Before I did it I rang my accountant and asked the cost. I was informed $180. Today I got an e mail back from them with attachments to sign to process my return. Their bill was also attached for a total of $440. I have rang them up since and am waiting for someone to call me back. Does this sound right it was a simple tax return 3 employers through the year and no other sources of income. Seems like a rip off to me. Cheers Chris.
  10. Cheers mate thanks for that. It's just hard to know when you are getting conflicting responses from immigration.
  11. Sorry mate what does ff mean
  12. Hey, I'm just wondering has anyone any previous experience with this. I am currently on a 487 visa (regional state sponsorship) I have lived in a specific area for two years and worked for over one year as required. I am now in the process of applying for my pr. I have rang immigration in relation to my pr application twice in the last week. One person I spoke to told me I had to continue working and living in a specified regional area until my pr was granted approx six months from now. The other person I spoke to today told me once I have done the required two years living etc. and can prove it I can now live and work where I please because I have fulfilled my obligation. Just wondering has anyone else been in the same boat. As I have been misinformed by immigration previously. Cheers Chris.
