Thanks for the info. Have been chatting to a bloke who does the acrylic coating which i did alot of here in ireland. hoping to get start with him. we are planning to move to the joondalup area. where do you live? to be honest the work ethic was the same here in ireland, really hard work so i am prepared for that. what are the normal working hours? how long have you been there? any other good tips or advice about life there?

cheers much appreciated

 3. ps there are ****loads of good plasterers in perth, expect to get your arse kicked by 15 year olds smashing on 150sqm a day, seriously no word of a lie as i have seen it a few times on different sites. The work ethic here is much higher than UK and alot of poms struggle at first including myself, dont say i didnt warn you.
 4. sorry for delay in replying. work situation out here at the moment is very quiet. it was fairly busy the last six months of last year but for some reason it has quietened down again, I get the impression its only marginally better than UK.Im in work at the moment but only for now, the company I work for only has work for next 3 months but nothing booked in after that. I know a few other plasterers who are scratching around for work. I often chat with bricklayers who were quiet from a few months back and still very quiet now, this is the obvious knock on effect. at the moment plasterers often get anywhere between 5-7 bucks a psm or 250-300 on day rates(expect to do at least 80-110 sqm per day. not easy when 35 degrees plus. here in perth float is all sand/cement then final skim is lime set. so learn to bullnose corners as beads only used in high traffic areas of house not like in UK were everything is beaded. as for tools, bring mixing drill but buy a bigger tub when you get here, those flexy tubs in uk aint big enough. bring hawk and trowel. buy a 5mm and 8mm bullnose tool for setting. as for floating you need to buy a 3.5cu mixer approx new about 1200bucks. timber, plastic floats and sponge for sand finishing also invest in a decent hose approx 400 bucks. if you work for a decent firm then all this would be provided except hawk and trowel. the money is crap for the cost of living, i reckon living in perth with a family you need earn at least 350 a day. my missus works but we are alway skint however the sun is almost always shining and the beer is always cold.(buy from bottle shop unless you want to pay 10-12 bucks a pint ( ) pm me if you want more info happy to help.
 5. plastering here for 3 years now, what sort of things you want to know?
