I'm desperately wanting to get my dream bike (old school BMX) to Oz, has anyone posted/couriered a 2nd hand bike to Oz from the UK? thanks
-
The problem might be the cost, it could possibly be exhorbitant so I'd like to hear from someone who has done it.

We're finally getting around to applying for PR and need to get police clearances but can't find out the size of the photo's required, easy enough for the UK one but not the Oz one!! Can anyone tell me? Thanks
-
Thanks Notts, would you believe I have an agent and the best they could manage was a link to the application form!!!

We've recently got a Telstra tbox and with great anticipation got the sports package to get the 6 nations rugby. I now find that I can't record to foxtel channels, just the free to air ones!!!! This has to be possible, how do others record then 1am matches? Thanks Ps. Is it just me or has pomsinoz become impossible on an iPhone?

I'm currently on a 457 visa but know that (as long as I have a skills assessment) I can be sponsored for permanent residency at any point after arrival, my question is, does this application cost my employer anything? Thanks Grant
-
thanks for the replies, my main reason for wanting PR is because we're in NSW and are having to pay for school fees, $4500 this year and $9000 next year. I'lll have a look at the charges on the immi.gov website but I found it a bit confusing (not hard)
-
So I assume then that it does cost someone something, any idea how much?

I'm going to be starting a business that will at some point be paying out dividends. It's been suggested that a good way to minimise tax will be to set up a family trust and pay dividends to the beneficiaries. Has anyone on the forum done this that can give me some advice about the details. Thanks Grant

Unfortunately I'm in NSW so I'll have to find someone a bit closer to home but thanks for your replies Roger

Hi roger, thanks for the reply did you use an accountant to set it up or did you do it yourselves, I've seen an online site where it seems you can do it yourself. Where there any pitfalls that you encountered?

We're in the process of trying to hook our broadband up (Telstra) and have opted to use our uk router rather than get a new one. Not so easy as it turns out, has anyone else managed to do this successfully and is there something simple that I should be doing, it was originally for orange in the uk. Thnks grant

Thanks peach i called the Telstra help line in one last attempt to sort it and got a very helpful guy Basically connected via Ethernet and got me online and then as if by magic the wifi worked so all ok now and a thumbs up for telstra's service and thanks to the forum as well
-
Thanks peach, how do I get to the 168.191 etc site if I'm not connected to the Internet
-
Thanks for the replies peach, you lost me a bit as well, told you I was computer illiterate. Where do I change all these settings? I might try a bit of googling as suggested or a visit to the Telstra shop is called for
-
Thanks Colin i could get one from them for about $50 which it looks like I may have to do (as I'm computer illiterate), just thought it was a shame to waste the uk one as its pretty much brand new

I've tried the search option for this as i was sure there would be something, but either there isn't or the search function isn't functioning very well. we've just hooked up the tv and found that what's on offer is pants! before we go the fox-tel extreme, what would a set-top box give us, we really need some sort of kids tv option especially, but having had a look on a set-top box in the shops, it doesn't tell me what channells will be available. can anyone shed some light? thanks very much
-
thanks Cal, they seem to vary on price a bit, are they pretty much of a much?

Right, so we're here and settling (eventually) but the withdrawal from UK TV is setting in. I know there are ways to hide your ISP address so you can access ITV player and 4OD but does anon use a service like myexpatnetwork that charge a fee, if so, how good are they and which one do you use? thanks

We're going to try and get our uk driving licenses swapped for OZ ones and was wondering if anyone has managed this whilst in temporary accommodation. Basically we have a months temporary accommodation before we look for a permanent rental, I assume we have to prove address, difficult for a temporary accommodation! Any advice is appreciated, thanks Grant
-
thats a very interesting point, i was under the impression that having a drivers license made getting various other things easier like car finance, mobile contracts etc, is this not correct?
-
thanks tony, i'll look into that

thanks for the replies folks
