the only thing we wire up is the photo eye beam which is powered by the motor its just speaker wire the motors all come with a moulded plug and on the new builds there is a socket on the ceiling ready if not just test it with a extension lead.

cheers for the info steve, how do you go on with the wiring side of things,do you do the wire and commission or are they all manual doors that you fit?

would of thought that you would need to be licenced according to how many different categories of tests that you are supposed to take according to the crap that you get from all of the migration agents.I can't understand why you would need additional licensing in Oz when in the Uk I fit, wire & commission 240v single & 415 3 phase motors, but because I have had 'inhouse training' I do not need to have all of the electrical qualifications.

Did you need to do the electrical training in your first week like I had to in the UK and is this deemed to be sufficient, for the works that you do?

i work on my own the only thing i strugle with is roler doors over 2.5m wide. they get a bit heavy.i should use lifting gear but for $40 you have to get it on the shoulder and walk up the steps.i took my blue card test when i got here for $90 not been asked for that either.its the same as cscs in uk but if you get a question wrong you can change the answer.
