  1. It is very scary I agree, but hopefully worth it. We just cant make a decision - at least nurses are required whether it's a hot climate or a cold one! We are really torn as we have a good life here but after visiting the Sunshine Coast in 2008 we have been wanting to emigrate. Only money stopped us before but we can now just about afford the move, is more the job prospects are what are holding us back. I am just an office worker so although I could probably get a job, it wouldnt keep us afloat as I hear food and bills are expensive. Good luck to you too, do you know where you would like to live?
  2. Hi No but he works such long hours and every other weekend in the winter so by the time he gets in he is really tired and grumpy and cant be bothered to do anything. In the summer it is totally different - sometimes only works 3 days a week and finishing earlier. I guess that's just his trade, but it really gets him down.
  3. Hi thanks for the advice. I am 45 and hubby will be 40 soon. We have 2 girls 9 and 11. It's now or never really I guess. Just fed up of hardly seeing each other during the winter months. Any other device much appreciated.
  4. Hi. We are in talks with a migration consultant who says we should be able to get a visa. He is working for British gas at mo but work life balance isn't good.
  5. Thanks for your reply. We want to be near friends who live in the maroochydore area so yes Sunshine Coast is the place for us.
  6. Hi all. We Would like to hear from anyone who has moved to the Sunshine Coast from the uk without a job to go to. Basically my hubby is a gas fitter over here and although he is willing to do anything we are worried that we end up moving over there and finding there is no work. He doesnt want to work for himself as apparently that is even harder to achieve. Can anyone give us some advice?

  8. Hi my hubby is a gas engineer with British gas and we have been sent the application forms by the visa bureau as having seen his cv and quals he can apply for a 175 visa. will he need to take the vetass things? and does anyone know if there are any jobs on the sunshine coast for gas fitters? Don't want to uproot kids only to find can't get job!
  9. Thanks for your reply. Is there anywhere in particular on this site where I could contact others who have gone to that area looking for similar work and managed to get a job or not? This is our last chance as hubby 40 next feb. Just don't want to uproot kids only to find can't have decent lifestyle and have to come back.
  10. Is it best to wait until you get over to Oz before looking for work or is there a way to find one before you go? We are about to apply for a 175 visa (gas fitter/plumber) but hubby is dubious about going over there and not finding a job. We would like to move to the Sunshine Coast, anyone know what the job situation is there? I wondered if they have a version of Yell.com to find local companies and if it was worth ringing them up? Sorry if this post is in the wrong place but I am quite new to this!
  11. Hi can anyone advise on the job situation for gas fitter/plumber in the maroochydore area? Also the best area for schools for 8 and 10 year old girls?
