here's our timeline for citizenship; applied online for all 4 of us on; 07.09.13 email replies confirming test dates; 09.09.13 test date; 10.10.13 location; newcastle, nsw no test for our youngest but an interview as she is over 16 but under 18 yrs old. total cost; $940 all docs and paperwork to be taken with us. have been out of country for 1 year (3 yrs ago) so police checks for wife and i again (cost 108 uk pounds total) police checks should be back to us in next 2 weeks newcastle office said if checks not back by the 10th still attend to take test and then forward on check after all very informative and helpful so far. now spending time revising for the test :goofy:

Hi all, just a quick update from some boomerang poms that are going good 2nd time round. so after our 1st attempt in 2008 which only lasted 6 months, this time we have lasted just over 3 years and loving it!! dont get me wrong our family has had its share of ups and downs but right now life is good my wife and i are working, we have purchased our own home, our eldest is on on her "p's", passed her HSC, has part time work whilst studying at TAFE, and has found herself an aussie boyfriend. Our youngest has got her "L's" and also part time work. 1 set of parents are applying for permanent parents visa's and yesterday all 4 of us applied for our citizenship! the very sincere best of luck to all applying to migrate, and for those who have we hope life down under is treating you well. all the best.

well said aussie abroad. we live in maitland 1/2 hr drive inland (west) of newy. so 30 mins to the 2 above mentioned shopping centres and 30mins in the other direction to the hunter valley gardens and vineyards. it also places us at the top of the main freeway to take down to sydney (approx 2 hrs) and close to the new england highway which takes you up to coofs harbours and eventually queensland and surfers paradise (approx 8-9 hrs drive and home of the themeparks) ive drove quad bikes over stockton beach dunes (by an organised company) great fun. the resturants ive visited have been fair priced and clean. the irish pubs are lively (and sell beer in pints) the beaches are breath taking. spent australia day 2 years ago at nobbys beach in newy amazing day. now i dont wish to speak out of turn but its down to personal choice where to live, if it was me i would be looking to have my home at least 15 - 20 mins out of newcastle. im sure others will post some of the better suburbs. wherever you end up, we wish you all the very best

<p>im sorry im sorry im sorry, was stuck up in the loft sorting out. lame excuse i know but time is running away with us now. had the 3 container co's in. 1 quote back 2 to follow. house buyers surveyor been in. tracey was called by our solicitors on monday morn we could exchange contracts "and" complete on the same day by end of THIS MONTH!!! arghhhhhhhh! told them no way we need 2 weeks between exchange and complete. our leaving do is in grays on 24th AUG. Now looking at money transfers and a place to rent, what a nightmere. anyhows enough 'bout me hope it all went well at the met and very very sorry again.</p>
