  1. Hi LainyK, I'm going to call you The Oracle from now on! It's been great to get an objective and helpful response and one that hasn't degenerated into a slanging match. Good on you. You have really helped me get an idea of the areas and the schools in the places we've been considering and I'm feeling more confident about the move. Thanks so much for everything. Cheers, Caroline
  2. LainyK, you're a star! You've answered all my questions and concerns and it's great to get your perspective on what you would do if you could rewind.....aren't we always thinking about what we'd change!! You've certainly given me food for thought and I hope your second daughter gets into Port Hacking. Do you happen to know the catchment school for kids living in Caringbah South?
  3. Hi LainyK, Thanks for that information, it certainly helps make a decision about where to live on the Shire. Which school would you be in the catchment for living in Kareela? We really liked Kareela and Oyster Bay but the high schools were obviously a consideration. Cheers, Caroline
  4. I couldn't find details of the catchment zone either, just the 'out of area' form so I know there's a zone I just can't locate it!! I'll get in touch with the school, I thought I'd ask you just in case you had some local knowledge. Thanks so much for your help and I hope you manage to get your daughter into the school you want. Moving around the world was so much easier before we had schools to consider! Cheers, Caroline
  5. Thanks for the info LKC, very useful. You don't happen to know whether there is a catchment zone for Port Hacking High do you? Cheers, Caroline
  6. We are making the move to Sutherland Shire later this year and I was wondering if anyone has any info on Port hacking High School in Miranda. It looks like it's performing well according to its literacy and numeracy scores, in fact it's on a par with Kirrawee High School. The real estate agents always state whether or not a house is in the catchment zone for Kirrawee High yet they don't do the same for Port Hacking High. Is this because Port Hacking doesn't have a catchment zone/bigger zone than Kirrawee has, or is it just not a great advert to state that a particular property is in the zone because it's not a well regarded school? If we want our children to go to Kirrawee High then we're restricted where we can live on the Shire due to its zoning. Is it the same if you wish your child/ren to go to Port Hacking High? Are there other state high schools anyone can recommend on the Shire? Any information will be appreciated. Cheers, Caroline

  8. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone can help with my question about how long it takes to approve a child visa 101. Child no.3 was born after the rest of us received our visas for permanent residency. We've done our police checks and child's medical was done a week ago so we've fulfilled everything that's been asked of us. Has anyone been through a similar situation and if so, how long did it take to receive the child's visa? We've asked our case officer in London who has just quoted the 6-8 months maximum timeframe but hearsay tells us it could be less, we just haven't heard from anyone who's actually done it. Thanks, Caroline
