1. This page outlines the eligibility requirements for the Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 121) visa. You must: be nominated for a position that relates to an occupation listed on the Employee Nomination Scheme Occupation List (ENSOL) See: Skilled Occupation Lists (formerly known as Form 1121i) You must also either: have your skills assessed as suitable for the nominated position by the relevant skills assessing authority. 2. Went there just before christmas, even though the weather was shocking we still loved the place. Theme parks were disappointing to say the least.
  3. Even be careful with the 'reputable' agents. I felt very let down by one in particular on here and the other wanted money just to see if i was eligible. I ended up doing it all myself and now have P.R. Agents are generally robbing b*****ds in my opinion.
  4. Agent sounds like he/she hasn't got a clue.
  5. Hi, As far as i'm aware nomination once approved is valid for 12 months. If any of your circumstances change, such that an answer in your application or information given to the department is no longer correct, you must inform the department as soon as possible. You must continue to advise the department of any changes in your circumstances until a decision is made on your application – or, in the case of a visa granted outside Australia, until you travel to Australia and are cleared by immigration. You can provide this information by writing a letter or email to your case officer and including any additional documentation that is required. You must identify yourself in your correspondence by quoting your Client and/or Permission Request ID, Transaction Reference Number for electronic applications, and your file number. This information will be provided in your acknowledgement letter. Important: Your visa may be cancelled if you give incorrect information or fail to advise the department that some information is no longer correct. Examples of a change in circumstances include: new job new passport new member of your family discovery of incorrect information in your application change of address or contact details. I think once your visa is granted you are expected to start pretty much straight away. Andy
  6. Hi, The immigration office is on Wellington St, next to harbour town. If you're on a 457 you can stick with your U.K licence if you want. Andy
  7. Hi, Thanks for the replies. I have no english bank accounts now so getting the info may prove hard. As for my passport, lost the original a few years ago and in the period it covered i clocked up a few miles here and there. My memory isn't good at the best of times so trying to remember where and when i went is impossible, especially when you spend most of the holiday ****faced and forget you were ever there!
  8. Hi, I have to fill in form 80 in conjunction with my 856 application. There are many stupid questions on the form, one being 'please give details of visits outside Australia in the last ten years' My passport is fairly new so no record there. I have been to a lot of places in that time and don't know any dates or exactly where i've been. Does anyone know how to find this information? Thanks Andy

    Dentist!!!

I've just had root canal done on one tooth, $1800 total cost, that includes porcelain cap. Slightly expensive!
  10. I wear shorts 365 days a year, to work and around the house. It does get a bit chilly sometimes, anything below 17C and i decide to put a jacket on as i work outside. It's funny how quickly we have acclimatised. We went back to England last August which is summer. I went to the pub with my mate and he suggested we go sit in the beer garden. It was a sunnyish day around 16-17C and all i did was sit there and shiver my balls off. We ended up going to sit inside. My mate couldn't believe i was cold as this was one of the warmer days they had during the year. Even had to put the central heating on!
  11. Hi, You may find it impossible to secure a job without at least coming to Australia and introducing yourself to potential employers. Be prepared to come out here on a holiday to do interviews etc to show you are serious about what you are doing. It all depends on what field of work you are in, some employers are happy to interview via skype. Good luck! Andy
  12. Hi, It can be a bit of a minefield as there is no MOT so you will see a lot of sh*t heaps, but that depends on your budget really. Second hand cars are generally more expensive than in the UK so be prepared for a shock. You also have to pay a tax which is a proportion of the total cost of the price you pay (can't remember the rate). We found that Aussies don't generally give their cars a good clean and polish before selling them, so we saw many cars with crisp packets and sweet wrappers all over them. Eventually we found our first car which was an xtrail. It was dirty but under the dirt we could see it was a good car. A year and a half later we sold it but gave it a bloody good polish and clean and we actually made a profit on it. You can get inspections carried out by the RAC i think, if you require piece of mind. Andy
  13. You need to know exactly how many days you worked. You can only include the days where you actually did some graft. But looking at what you're saying, on the face of it you could say you worked every day for the period you stated as long as your employer will back this up. Also you may need to provide some evidence that you worked non stop for a month i.e wage slips.
  14. Perth is the place to be if you want guaranteed hot weather during summer/autumn. You will get a good six months of practically pure sun. Winter isn't that bad really. They call it winter but in general temps are between 16-20 most days. I wear shorts ALL year round with no problems. Might have to slip a jacket on sometimes but i can live with that. Yes it does have rainy days in winter but its not long periods of rain. It comes and goes fairly swiftly. I would say myself and my wife have a way better quality of life here in Perth than the U.K simply because we are out and about way more. Even if it's just a trip to the local beachside cafe to sit in the winter sun and enjoy a brew and a slice of cake. We have a 4x4 so day trips/weekends away are limitless. We have just finished a 6000km trek to Broome and back which was stunning. We would defiantly say that it is a way better life here. Andy
  15. As far as i'm aware your employer doesn't have to be a registered sponsor for an 856. I may be wrong though. Andy
  16. Hi, Your employer fills in nomination paperwork specifically for you. You can either wait for nomination to be approved before you lodge your visa application or lodge them both together. You pay up front for both. However if you lodge both at the same time and the nomination is unsuccessful you lose the money you paid for the visa application even if it hasn't been processed. Andy
  17. Defiantly better to be here when applying. I applied for a job with the company i work for now while in the U.K and they didn't even bother to acknowledge that i had applied. Came to Perth the following year, rang them up and got in interview straight away and secured the job. Andy
  18. It's $2500ish for visa and around $450 for nomination plus medicals at around $300ish for two people.
  19. Hi, Yes the nomination has to be done again. You can apply for nomination and the visa at the same time as long as all your doc's are in order. We have just done this. It seems that DIAC require more documents for the 856 than for the 457 from your employer but it's staightfoward enough. We haven't used an agent. Andy

    Dog Down Under

Hello James, Hayley, Elsie and Bella, We flew our dog Tessa with Petair too. We flew her over to Sydney as we planned to live in Mt Isa, we came to Perth for a holiday and decided to stay here. It cost us only $200 to get her to Perth after her time in Sydney quarantine. We later found out that there was a 6 month waiting list for Perth and only 8 weeks waiting list in Sydney, so we were lucky in a way. Tessa lost her bark for a good couple of weeks but soon got it back. She loves it out here. She has adapted to the weather really well don't no the score in Melbourne but Perth has doggy beaches and she loves the sun, sand and sea more than us. All the best with your travels, if you would like any other information let us know Kind Regards Andy, Kelly and Tessy
  21. Hi, Myself and my wife (36 & 28) live in Butler, don't have any kids but if you fancy a pint let me know. Andy
  22. Hi, I live in Butler and drive to work in os park. I leave the house normally around 0730 - 0740 and then listen to the traffic report to decide which route i will take. If the freeway is good up to Karrinyup Rd i will take it. Cuts journey by at least 20 min compared to other routes (Wanneroo Rd, Marmion Ave, West Coast Drive). If the freeway is crappy then i just drive down the coast until i reach Karrinyup Rd then cut accross. The coast drive is also the best way due to the scenery, just hugging the coastline every morning makes you realise how lucky you are. I have to be in work for 0830 and am always 10 mins early if i use coast, and around 20 mins early if i use freeway, which is good because i get time to sit and have brekky and a brew before work. Andy
  23. Hi, I just lodged my 856 along with the employer nomination, medicals etc. The only risk i can see about waiting is that your occupation may fall off the SOL. The application itself is pretty straightforward and took about 2 months to get everything like police checks and medicals sorted. We didn't use an agent and managed well. The other thing is cost. I decided to risk it and wait two years because it would of cost over $2000 to get my skills assessed. My mate had his assessed and all the bloke did is come into work, ask a few questions, get him to operate a couple of machines and that was it, he was off. Half an hour later he was gone. To me it just seemed a money making scam so i thought screw them, i'm keeping my money thank you very much. Andy
  24. Hi, It depends on if you had your skills assessed by the correct authority in the first place. If so then i don't think you've anything to worry about. I'm not sure if these assessments have an expiry date though. I'm sure someone else will know. Think you may need to do at least a year with your existing employer before you apply though. Andy

Hi,

Unfortunatly the only way really is to come over here on a holiday visa and travel round going to interviews with a view to being sponsored. I think your chances of getting a job while still in the U.K are practically nil. I think i remember Gill saying that your S.I.L has limited experience as a locksmith which may hinder the application from an employers point of view and maybe that of the Immigration Dept. Here in Western Australia you have to have a police security licence to operate as a locksmith. To obtain one of these you have to have an AQF in Locksmithing. I'm not sure about other States, i think the only one you don't need a licence for is Queensland but i would advise on checking first. If you are lucky enough to secure a job make sure you can be over here as soon as possible. If you need any more info feel free to contact me.

Regards
