  1. ? no not at all, I honestly feel for everyone waiting... we have been in the same boat, almost 3 years with lots of goal posts changing. I guess there was an assumed feeling that once the document request/ AOS came through things would get easier... i came to Oz 11years ago and it’s true what someone told me back then... entry to Australia on a long term basis is “survival of the fittest - mentally.” Best of luck to all those waiting, it will happen for you ??
  2. Hi, just some advice for those family members who are soon to pay their AOS. I work full time, so wanted to make the bond payment for the AOS as part of my mum’s visa application, and head straight to Centrelink with the proof, all in 1 afternoon. This was to minimise time away from work and not create more delays to an already lengthy process. (Comm bank are only open 9.30am-4pm!!!! too ) If you are looking to do this, I highly recommend you open up a Comm Bank account prior to setting up the bank guarantee. (You can close it again straight after the transfer.) Comm Bank won’t open the bank guarantee account unless you have all the money needed in your hand(cash/ bankers cheque) or are already a Comm Bank customer with the full amount of money sitting in the account, ready to do an instant transfer. My personal bank is online based and will do a 3hr telegraphic transfer, but the funds wouldn’t have been available for 24hrs, so Comm Bank said they wouldn’t sign off until the money was available to them, even though they would see it sitting in the account (grrr!) So Yesterday after some pleading with my other bank, we were able to get out $10k cash from the ATM to physically take to Comm Bank. I cant tell you the stress that brought on, for what should have been an easy process. I hope this info is helpful for anyone due to pay theirs soon, so you don’t have to run around like a crazy person begging for cash, as I did yesterday.
  3. Hi all, Quick question for anyone who knows.... I'm the (only) child of a parent who is waiting for their PCV to come through (lodged in 2015). The AOS states there you have to demonstrate income, which is fine as i'm currently employed full time. The jobs market in Aus is very fragile. What happens if i'm made redundant and can't produce recent payslips when the time comes?? The other scenario is that I find myself in a job that becomes a contracted role - not permanent. Has anyone found themselves in this situation with your AOS? What did you do? (I'm just playing devils advocate at the moment.. but with all the delays you just never know what the future holds....) Thanks in advance for any info.

    Questions / Info

Hiya! Thought i'd lend you my Airline Knowledge for this post.. Airline sales are based around Seasons The Peak Seasons are: 1st July - 29th Sept. & 1st Dec - 31st Jan The Shoulder Season is : 1st May - 30th June & 1st Feb - 30th April ( depnding on when Easter is) Low Season: There is no low season really! lol Oct & November is a pretty good time to go though. ( oh apart from Half Term week at the end of Oct!) With regards to booking tickets.. the earlier the better! There's a big misunderstanding that if you wait till the last minute you can get cheap tickets as the Airlines want to get rid of them. That is a complete lie. The airlines will charge you more for last minute bookings, as there are more admin fees to cover. Also where possible always ask for a E-Ticket. It can save you around £20 per ticket in printing costs! Plus the bonus is you can never lose it! At the moment Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines are in direct competion with each other. Singapore have just ordered 2 new Airbus 380's ( the new double decker!) So they are able to cut their prices dramatically.. Malaysia have lost Business becauase of this and so it's now started up a price war. Bonus with Singapore Airlines is that they are part of the Star Allience. This means that if you join Their Frequent Traveller Program then you can use you're points not only on Singapore Airlines, but on United, Air NewZealand , Air Canada, BMI, Lufthansa, Thai, Tap Air Portugal etc.. Which is a good deal! Oh and lastly check out Emirates..... They have tickets for around £600 if you leave before the end of June and they are fully changable! Bargin! Hope this helps..

Hi Welcome to PIO!! Don't quote me on it, but i think HGV drivers are needed more up near the mining areas..? Could be that your OH could apply to them and then go from there..via sponcership..? I know you want to settle in SA, but maybe look around at the rest of the country and see where the demands are..? Just an idea.

    **Dancing around** Hurray!!

Hiya! Sorry I haven't posted on here for a while... But I had my medical last Friday (11th) in London. I have to say it was probably the worst thing i've had to do in this process! The Medical was fine and the Doctor was pleasent enough, until the dreaded Weight came up!! He stared asking me questions about whether i got breathless when i walk..?!! Can i squat down and get back up again...?!! Do i get any back pain..?!!!! HELLO!! I'm 24 and a little over weight, not 90 years old! (sorry don't mean to be agest) Anyway he left me feeling so negetive, as he said there a likelyhood, even though i've NEVER been Ill in my life that i might not get my visa because i'm over the standard BMI they want. I'm only going in as a student, so it's not a perminant Visa, however he still said it could have a HUGE impact on my application. Part of the reason i'm going to Oz is for a better lifestyle. So then I just had to wait.. and wait... and wait. I felt horrible and didn't actually eat for 2 days as i felt guilty to. - Not good, as if i had a weaker personality it would have really effected me badly. Well yesterday was my 24th Birthday (hurray) and i got an email saying "VISA APPLICATION _ GRANTED!!!!!" How good is that..?! wooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooo! So in the end that horrible Doctor was wrong! YAY! And what a birthday pressie too! Thanks to all of you who've helped me with Questions I've had, Without PIO this process would have been 10 times more neve-racking. But sharing my problems and questions with you helped so much. So thank you all heaps and Heaps! :jiggy: Kat x :notworthy:
