    SC190 Obligation Warning

From what you have posted you should be able to make a good case for no action to be taken if you have to leave the ACT. Keep copies of everything and take professional advice from a registered migration agent about strategy.

    SC190 Obligation Warning

Hello Everyone Situation : I got my 190 PR in September 2019 .My sponsoring state is ACT . I have been working in a company as a software engineer in ACT since Jan 2019 . But my company has had drastic change with respect to technology stack which has rendered me redundant . A proof of the same is that i am the only software engineer left and micro -management has started on me . I applied for 5 companies in ACT over the last couple of months , but no luck . I reckon i have exhausted all my options in Canberra . I do love the peace , serenity and almost everything about canberra and living in ACT has been more of a choice rather then obligation . I did some really good job at work and was an important employee for the organization but now i feel really unwanted at work and am on the company's radar to be fired and they have implicitly indicated this to me . Question : Can i look for jobs in other states in Australia ? I have read somewhere that ACT does not give release letter any more .They just say that they will simply let home affairs know that "you have not met the obligation to stay in ACT . Although i would anyway like to settle down in canberra ,as soon as i get an opportunity here , out of my own love for this place , what should i do as for now ? Any suggestions , would be much appreciated. Cheers .

@Hari_999 This post really isn't helpful as you're missing some crucial information on this area. @Kiwi This topic has been discussed at length in earlier posts (you'd have to go back a while to find them) however, to touch briefly on it; - Legally you don't need to have private medical once you've lodged for PR, however; 1. Should something happen to your application and it gets refused / rejected, you would not be under the legal requirements of being in the country (you legally need to have private medical on a 457). I'm not sure on the repercussions on this, personally, I wouldn't risk it. 2. Without a private medical and depending on your income and a few other criteria, you may be liable for medicare "loading" which after time could add up to lots of money and bite you later on. There's lots of information on this online, a quick Google gave me this (disclaimer, I've not read through it completely): https://www.privatehealth.gov.au/health_insurance/surcharges_incentives/lifetime_health_cover.htm I wouldn't take this decision lightly and do some in-depth research on same before making the call (including speaking with my MA / asking for the facts and also go through older posts here). Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot. Ups, 0,5% is very low. Well, did not expect anything exiting here. This is for Victoria. I suppose NSW will be similar.

We all do not know were we stand. They do not give details on the processing time per case. Base on latest information the time they start processing your visa is probably18-19 month. As they work down the list by date, you never know how many people applied just before you.

@Micgeo My understanding on this is that you need a 4.5 in each module. My wife had a similar requirement (needed 8's in academic test - she's a teacher), and she did it a few times because 8's were needed in EACH section (not overall, which she had a few times).

    Property Renovations

Thanks Cal. I’d googled them too and will head up to Osborne Park to check them out. In the UK we had used Ceramic Tile Warehouse and their sistershop Park Street Interiors and Stone Gallery in Camberly who we always found had great stock and gave maximum discounts without all the messing around and all in one location....was hoping there was another secret magic bullet over here! thanks again. olly

No we never had that either when I was growing up. January/February were always a bit bleak. I do remember mild winters then it snowed at Easter.

Depends which country you are from and if that country has a reciprocal agreement with Australia. If you are from the UK then you don’t need private health insurance, however you will only be treated for medically necessary care. If you have medical issues it would be wise to look into it more, if not, you can take your chances. Presumably your country has a reciprocal agreement as you have been issued a Medicare card.

    The UK and Climate Change

The wishy washy weather has been this way for quite some time now, 20 years or more in the South East - so much so the Xmas snow in London bet at the bookies is not really worth a punt. Add to this, more recently the consistently warmer temperatures (for winter), and something is changing, and quickly (20,years is a short time for changes in climatology
  15. Hi, just a quick question - where do you upload information after the RFI? Is there a separate section or do you decide where it should go depending on the category? Thanks!

    190 Qld Studying.

That is the main immigration site with the basic requirements for the visa. The States can and do impose additional requirements and restrictions in addition to this. Check the state website for details.

How to make the decision to stay or go

I agree with the counselling - always a good start even if it's just to give you strategies to cope day to day. I do see what the others are saying about the pragmatic "wait until LSL" but what you might well find is that when you get to that point your baby will be a year into school and "it'll be hard for them to move school /country" - there will be a very reasonable rationale for staying just a little bit longer. We always went with the pragmatic decision and i ended up where I didn't want to be because we had passed the point of no return. Its so very easy and comfortable to do that - back then, I didn't hate Australia, we were doing well, the kids were OK, our jobs were good, we knew folk but it wasn't where I wanted to be forever. Your DH might be able to apply for a career break - that'd be even better than LSL because it would be for 12 months rather than the LSL 3/12, that'd enable you to move sooner and maybe in time for you to have a second child if that is on your horizon. Anyway, with luck, counselling will help you cope a bit better. Won't solve the problem but it might give you some clarity about where your see your future. Good luck!

    Which shipping company??

Having just read reviews on John Masons and PSS, both have had some terrible, recent reviews, now I don't know who to get a quote from with any company. Our entire life is packed into a container and the thought of our belongings getting damaged, lost etc fills me with dread!! Yet the 2 companies mentioned also have some excellent reviews! Havent even enquired about insurance-does anyone have any recommendations please?? Many thanks for any replies. Xx

    The UK and Climate Change

Seems a bit wishy washy with the seasons blending into each other e.g. all that rain and daffodils in January etc. That is where you live of course. Certainly not in Scotland and Yorkshire. I have a friend on a farm near Coverdale, North Yorkshire and they have had a really cold winter with quite a bit of snow. At least they've had the brains to make sure their lambs will be born round about Easter time not like some picture I've seen of new born lambs in the cold and the wet and some of them in the snow. Poor little things.

    Investor Visa Subclass 188b

Missed this earlier, many thanks for the information Steve
  23. As you say, you’re pretty confused by some of this ... - You MUST propose before you can apply for a Prospective Marriage Visa - but you cannot be married before it is granted - You MUST be offshore when you apply for a PMV (and when it is granted) I suggest you get some professional advice if you want to go down any of the routes you are considering. Have you looked at whether your Partner is eligible for a UK working holiday visa so she can come to the UK to be with you and you can then address the Australian visa issues over time?
