    Somers - Mornington Peninsula

    Demographics

    8.1% of Somers population is UK-born migrants and this is the largest migrant group in the suburb. The Mornington Peninsula is predominately english with the majority of residents being Australian or UK-born migrants. Scottish, New Zealand and German migrants are also common in the suburb. These migrant groups are also the next largest behind UK-born migrants in the suburb and on the Mornington Peninsula. Italian, Irish, Welsh, American, Canadian and French migrants are also smaller migrant groups in the area.

    The area is popular with wealthy retirees and families. The suburb mostly consists of Managers, Professionals and Clerical/Administrative Workers.

    Transport

    Nepean Highway runs into the suburb and provides easy access to the area as well as the Mornington Peninsula Freeway is also nearby for a quicker commute to Melbourne.

    The closest train station is in Frankston however there are plans to electrify the train line to the Mornington Peninsula in Baxter.

    Real Estate 

    Somers median house price is $931,000 (November 2018) which is a $110,000 increase in median house price in the past 12 months.
