New Temporary Parent Visa - for a price

Ahead of the official announcement next week, it has been revealed the the government plans to introduce a new Parent Visa scheme which would commence in November.
 
 Applicants would be able to apply for a 3 year visa at a cost of $5,000 AUD or a 5 year visa at a cost of $10,000 AUD. The 5 year visa would have the option to be renewed once for another $10,000 AUD.
 
 In addition to the sizable initial cost, visa holders would not be permitted to work and the healthcare costs of visa holder would have to be met by their children with the sponsors being legally required to pay for private health insurance cover for the parents.
 
 It is expected there would be a quota of 15,000 places a year for the new visa.
