omg i hate needles, and i hate my body so i'd never be able to undress =| i know its all profecional but still! im 14, so ill probably have my blood taken im scared
Hi Charlotte,
You have the same name as my youngest daughter!!
Don't be worried about the medical, its not scary at all. We have 3 children ages 4, 7 and 10, and they didn't really have to do anything at all apart from pee in a cup, which the 4 and 7 year old found quite amusing! I don't know which age the full medical check starts at, but its nothing at all scary, and if you ask to go in first then you can relax while the others sit outside and stress.
I was scared about it to as I hate my body, I'm 33 by the way, but it really was ok, honestly.

Don't be scared.......my Daughter was 14 and she had to have the full medical! you just have to pee in a cup, listens to your heart (with your bra on) and tests reflexes.......that's all.........my advice would be to wear a skirt so that when you are being examined you are still covered if you get me? As for sitting in your bra.........like a bikini on a beach and don't forget you'll still have the skirt covering the bottom half! Even when you have an Xray.......you are given a gown to wear.........bra is off.......BUT you face the machine with the gown open and no one can see a thing!!!!! Relax Honey it will be fine
You can have a parent in with you while you have your medical too, it's up to you. So if you want your mum there for moral support you can. No needles so don't worry about that.
The advise about wearing a skirt is a good one, but if you wear jeans you have a blanket wrapped around you. The doctors are aware of how personal our bodies are, and they are very respectful.
You'll be fine.

Hi Charlotte,
Please dont worry about the medical. looking at it from my point of view (i'm a nurse) and we really have seen bodies of all shapes and sizes and we dont even think about what you look like. we are professional people and are very aware of how teenagers are concious of thier bodies. you will be treated with respect and dignity so dont worry. the other advice here is spot on. it'll be worth it in the long run, just think about why you and your family are doing this.
Charlotte,
Ive just noticed where you live, I'm from Ipswich too, please feel free to PM me and your mum too. It would be great to meet someone from this area who is going to oz. Where abouts are you heading.
Yes as said above, try not to worry. I had mine on Halloween and as I am carrying a bit excess weight, was not looking forward to it. The Doctor WAS very respectful and kept me covered up at all times, apart from a couple of seconds when it was necessary to uncover. It was over with in about 5 mins flat.
charlotte, ignore my last message, got it wrong .....again. bit of a blonde when it comes to computers. i just caught sight of an ipswich on avatar, didnt look properly, ..... it was mine.

My Mood:
It's all in a days work for the doc, trust me he won't even notice what you look like...he'll be too busy doing his job! I'm a nurse too and I also hate having blood taken: don't look at the needle it just feels like a sharp scratch and it's over in seconds, doubt you'll have to have blood taken anyway unless you have piercings or tattoos?
