we had our medicals a fortnight ago and they are nothing to be worried about they take about ten mins per person plus a bit of a chat with the doctor (dr million) in manchester all they do is measure your height, weight, listen to your chest take a blood off you and hit you with that rubber hammer thing to see if you respond, then you go downstairs for the chest x ray which is exactly what it says we went at 10am and we were out at 11.45 am for 4 of us.ps you cant use american express as we found out but they do accept visa and debit cards as well as good old cash
Location: leicestershire to perth, fingers crossed!

Rob and i had our medicals done nearly two weeks ago, you have absolutely nothing to worry about! We had ours with Dr Smith at Manchester and he was lovely. He first took our height and weight, tested our eyes (we were told to cover one eye at a time with hand and read from chart on the wall), took blood and tested urine. Then we were asked one at a time to go behind the curtain and strip down to underwear (a cover is given for the ladies!) and he tested movements in joints, asked us to breathe in and out a number of times and cough, did the hammer test for reflexes and asked us to touch our toes. After that we had chest xrays done which again was very straightforward.
One hour later and £530 poorer we were done - had enough change left to get full fry up before going back to work!
You'll be fine.

My eldest was 11 when she had the medicals, unless you're 16 you won't have any blood tests done, if you're 11 or over you'll have to have a chest x-ray.
Nothing to worry about at all.. and for children nothing will hurt. My youngest was 6 at the time, and the dr got him to help counting his dads toes etc., (not part of the medical but my son enjoyed it).

its totally fine, i had mine done back in august and all they do is check your chest, your reflexes and joints. they also check your throat and ear.
then they record your weight and height and if you over 15 (like me ) take a blood test which doesnt hurt at all
the only embarrising thing is when you have to lay on on the table in just your underwear!! haha but its fine!
im moving to canberra on the 30th december and very very scared.
im 13 years old and worried that i wont make friends and dont want to leave my friends here in somerset/bridgwater !!
reply to my thread if you feel the same/ very worried or just want to talk to me
I've had my medicals done today. I can confirm all of the above (height / weight / hearing / sight / reflexes / breathing /bloods etc) but also wanted to add that I had a breast examination... this came as quite a shock as no-one had mentioned this in previous posts! I'm guessing these are for women over a certain age (I'm 35yrs young!) so don't want to worry the teenage girls aout there! It was, all in all, pretty easy - certainly nothing to worry about :)
