Scared of spiders need info!

i am scared to death of spiders is it common to get them in your house in oz?

I have seen numerous Huntsman spiders in my house in Oz,have only seen one redback (it was crawling up my then 2 year old daughters bedroom curtain,and I had to kill it before it disappeared!!!)Have seen quite a few redbacks in my old garden (we lived in the country)but please don't get paranoid about this.Firstly it depends where you live (You'd see more in the country)and secondly if you do see any spiders leave them alone until you know which ones are dangerous!!!Do some homework,ask neighbours and friends who know which ones are which.Hope this helps?

Sorry can't help you with the Gold Coast as I came from S.A!Someone from that area is bound to help you though.I think also be careful if you are in your shed or garage as spiders seem to gravitate to these buildings for shelter.Always cover your wellies/shoes/boots if you leave them outside ( I used to cover mine with old pantyhose/tights,slip the foot bit over the top)Be careful when putting garden gloves on for obvious reasons.You get used to it after a while,and if you happen to see a redback or whatever outside just leave it well alone!

Hi, I too hate spiders, but have decided to look at it from a different angle.

Just like spiders in UK they are not all running round ready to bite you, so think if it same way in OZ, they will be minding their own business and dont want to come near humans, so you should be fine.

dont worry pet...they wont be interested in you hun.....they'll all be waiting for me, whispering to each other that they know i'm coming to oz, before long all the spiders in WA will be in one great big ''lets kill alison gang'' waiting to pounce on me when i get off the plane!!!

I'm going to make a big spider proof suit!!!!!!! do you want one made hun?

Dear all

I don't know why but the the 3 S's scare the living daylights out of me and I'm nearly 40. Isn't it funny that the smallest of these animals scares us the most. I guess it's because we can't control where they go.
I figured that when we go (and hopefully this should be in December) I'm just going to do my homework. I'm going to find out what type of spider they are, where they are most prevelent and how to get rid of them (I have a really good pair of shoes that I'm hoping will do the trick.

On the whole my advise is don't let a little thing ruin the life you could be living, live the life you have.
