Question Schools!

HI

My name is Ellie, I am 13.

I was wondering what the secondary schools are like in Aus.
  • What subjects are different in Aus?
  • Are there any subjects they do in Aus that we don't do in England?
  • Are there any subjects that we do, that they don't do in Aus?
  • Do you get as much homework?
  • What are the main differences between the schools in England and the schools in Aus?
  • When do you do your exams?
  • Do they take options in Aus?

I would be really grateful for any answers as I don't no much about the schools in Aus.

Thankx

Love Ellie
xXx

Hey Ellie.
Schools are the same pretty much but secondary school goes from year 7 to year 12.
Choices are made in year 10, which you then do for 2 years.
There are not that many exams as far as i can remember.
Homework is mainly made up of assingnments which you are given a couple of weeks to complete.
Lessons are all basically the same but you can choose to study ancient or modern history for your choices.
Hope this helps you and anyone else who needs advice!

Hi Ellie,
My daughter Nikki 14, finds the schools here in oz much the same as the uk, except the sport is different she has options of beach ball, golf, ice skating, ten pinbowling and a few others, the only subject she has thats different is japenese which she stuggles with LOL - nikki doesnt get much homework either in fact hardly any much less than she had in the uk.
You'll be fine its all easy

Hi we're in WA and secondary school here starts in year 8. My daughter doesn't have tons of homework but as has been said it's been alot of assignments. She misses English History, but is doing society and the environment at the moment and studying ancient Greece and Rome. She hasn't done Art yet (which she'll do next term) as doing drama at the moment. At her school she got the choice of doing Japanese or French (she chose French) She has had a few tests though.
