Hi, I'm a bit conserned about flying for 24 hours on the way to Australia. I'm worried that the plain will crash or something terrible will happen. I am tired of waiting for my mum and dad to fill out all these forms. Also I am worried about my friends, I am hoping to keep in contact with them. Also about making new friends, what will they be like! Please could anybody give me some advice? I'm beging to keep calm!
Hi Chazer, Don't worry about the flight - statistics say that its safer in a plane than driving on the roads, make sure you have your gameboy or similar for the flight, there will be plenty of movies to watch on the flight and time will go real quick. It's easy to keep in contact with your mates via telephone,msn,video link,letters,parcels etc & yes its also easy to make new friends here in Oz, my 14 year old daughter has stacks of friends (it costs me a fortune in birthday presents & sleep overs LOL) Nikki had loads of new mates on her first day at school here - so dont worry.
As for mum & dad and the forms, well, not much i can do or say there, perhaps you could offer to wipe the dishes or do some other chores if they get on with the forms try & do a deal with them good luck gizmo x

Hi Chazer - the flight is actually really cool according to my two children, you have a tv screen in the back of your seat and can play games on it and watch movies. My kids loved it - I thought they'd go to sleep early but it was so good they stayed awake for ages. I don't know how old you are, but the adult menu is great and my kids had this and thought it was great.
My daughter was 11 when we moved (13 now) and was worried about leaving friends and making new ones. We knew what school she would be going to and the principle got her a pen pal so that when she arrived she would know someone - they chatted on msn and she was introduced to some of her new classmates - it made a big difference on her first day.
She still keeps in touch with old friends .. and if they're good friends, you'll find that they make the effort to keep in touch too.
I like Giz's suggestion of maybe offering to do some chores so your mum can fill in the forms, have you told her you want her to get on with it? I think she'll be really please.

My other halfs daughter is 12 and she went to Aus 6 yrs ago she has to fly back every year to see us and loves the flight she has to fly here and back every year....you will be fine
She went over not having any family over there and has made loads of friends even wants to bring some over on her next visit....
Its the not knowing dont worry my son and daughter will be in your postion next year

Hi Chazer, You will be fine I went 2 see Australia in March and the flight was fantastic all the kids over there are very friendly!! I am moving either 2 Perth or Brisbane in August!! You will make lots of news friends i am sure!! Do you wanna chat on msn if so send me a private message!! Bye
I moved from the UK when i was 16, my family decided to move to New Zealand.
Although i was scared witless about moving to a totally different country and leaving family and friends, it was the best thing my parents ever did.
My life was so much better after i moved, people were really friendly. I was extremely shy and my first day of school was a real scary day for me but i don't know why i worried, it was fantastic, people were really friendly and made me feel welcome. It takes a bit to adjust to a new way of life but once you get there and settle down you will realise what a great thing it was to move.
Plus there are so many ways to keep in touch with your friends, email, letters, phone etc. I thought i would loose my school friends when i moved but i couldn't be more wrong, we were in constan contact and always have been since.
Don't worry and don't be scared, its the best country ever Australia.
Do not worry about the flight at all, you sleep a lot of it anyway so it doesn't take as long as you would think. I do the flight every year and a half. Its actually quite exciting
dont worry about the flight. the flight attendants will look after you really well. you ot more chance of getting struck by lightning than crashing.
the best parts are that you get TV's with games and films!!!normally all the food sweets and drinks are free so lots of fizzy!
