I am hoping to be in Australia later this year and had two Siamese Cats. My Son and his Fiance asked what we was going to do with them as we were not taking them with is as they are 8 and 7. So I said I would get in contact with the cat protection league and let them find them a good home.
He insisted that they take them for us and took them in the middle of February.
I was a little wary as they already have two domestic cats and I didnt think they would get on with my Siamese. But hey they all tolerate each other now after a few growls and spits.
At least your cats are not going to be left with strangers so please do not worry about them, I know, they are cats and will be OK.

Sorry Quianna I misread your mail and thought you were leaving the cats with your parents.

Please contact the Cat Protection League if you have no friends or relatives that will take them for you. They are very good at homing cats to the right people.

Good Luck

Hi Quianna

I have two persian cats and a moggy who is about 18 years old. We also have a dog. We are planning on taking the dog (he's 2 years old) and the cats we are able to leave with family. We just didn't want to put the cats through the flight and quarantine + they would find it hot as they have very thick fur. We don't feel guilty about leaving the cats because cats are very independent - you don't own them - they own you. As long as they are fed and watered they don't care who they live with.

Hope that helps.

Les

Hi quianna
my little girl has a cat called Bruno when we go he is going to live with my sister, but to be honest as long as he can roam on a night and has a bed to lie on he would not care who he lives with. why not advitise free to good home but not to be separeted a good while before you go advise who gets them to keep them in for min 2 weeks or they will try to get to area they are from then you can go and see how they have settled and how happy they are before you go and i am sure this will put your mind at rest and know they are happy

Hey Quianna,
my 3 kids have...2 cats, 1 budgie and a rabbit.
We have been very lucky and friends of ours are taking them. the cats are going to one home, the budgie to another and the rabbit yet another. We are also giving them to their new homes about 2 months before we leave so we can make sure they have settled properly and are happy in their new homes. The children will still visit the animals in our friends homes for a while and be able to give them treats and cuddles!
Perhaps this might be a good option for you. Then if a friend has Tigger and Shelby they can email you photos and let you know how they are doing.
Take care and i really hope you find the right solution for you.
Hugs
Gil.
