Hello, I am Zachary, aged eight, and we are moving to Perth in two weeks. What are the schools like over in Oz? I am a bit nervous. Also, I play football here for my school team, and would like to play over there. Are there many junior football clubs? Thanks, Zack.

Hello Zachary, I am Clare, Mum to Ben age 8! He was 6 when we moved here - he enjoys school, it is very relaxed and the kids get to wear trainers and shorts, not school shoes and black trousers! they dont wear a tie, just a short shirt with a little collar - they play cricket, football (called soccer here) and football (with an oval ball). They have swimming lessons on the beach or at the local pool - most towns have soccer clubs, the weather is nice nearly all year round! I hope you enjoy it here! The kids are very friendly and happy and outgoing and Ben got a lot of help when he came here! I hope you have fun! :-)
Thanks for that, Clare, I am Zacks mum, Myra. It's getting close to moving and he is upset at leaving his schoolfriends and team buddies. He will feel better when he reads your reply. I'm sure everything will be fine! Myra.
Hello Zack, I am moving to the Gold Coast in June, and I am also wondering about football. I play for my school team, and will miss that.
I hope everything works out for you. I am sure we will settle in faster than we think. I am hoping to get to swim with dolphins, and am sure that will cheer me up.
Good luck
From Jack
My little brother Callum wants to say Hi to you as well.
My son is 8 and we live in Leeming which is near Perth. School is great here and lots more fun than England according to my son. He loves soccer too there are lots of soccer clubs. You can do so much sport here, my son does basketball camp in the school holidays and he's just started playing in a basketball league and loves it.
You still wear uniform - my son wears blue knee length shorts and red top - you have to wear a hat because of the sun - but people don't think they're silly. You get to wear runners (trainers) instead of school shoes which is brilliant.
You'll find so much to do - you won't even worry that tele is a bit rubbish (unless you've got foxtel which is like sky).

Helly Myra! Ben said he will talk to Zack if he wants - he said dont be upset cos he will make heaps of new friends and he can still phone England (lol kids hey). I hope it all goes smoothly for you all and settle in, in Perth or wherever you go!
