Hi, I'm not your sons age (much older!), but live just down the road from Coombabah High. My kids are only little, so no use there either, just wanted to say Hi, and if you've any questions I might be able to help with, feel free.

Thanks for the reply, its appreciated.
We are a family of 4 from Yorkshire, moving to GC in Oct, everything is in place. We are renting a holiday apartment in Runaway for 6 weeks by which time we hope our container has arrived and we have found somewhere to rent long term.
My hubby is a metal roofer here in the uk,who i never see as he is always working away from home, i work in an office and we have 2 sons, one 19 whos is a hairdresser, he loves football and xbox live , the other is 15, loves the water and would have sat his GSCE's next summer but we are moving in time for him to start in Y11 at school. He is a bit apprehensive as to how it all works and how he will fit in, hence his post. We have been to qld a few times GC to CAirns on our first trip, its a long long way, then decided on the GC which we narrowed it down to Runaway bay, paradise point( we may be a bit to young to live there!)Hollywell, Coombabah and Biggera waters. These places we all loved and are all close to everything.
Questions, questions!!!??? there are so many but the important one is have you had any bad reports about Coombabah high/Helensvale. We did have a whirlwind visit to Coombabah high on PIne Ridge rd, i know now that there are 2, couldnt understand when i googled, why it didnt go to PIne ridge, the deputy principal was a welsh guy and really nice, but its hard to tell and when you look at the league tables they are all pretty much the same.
We are going to arrange rental viewings before we arrive so we have viewings on our arrival, if they are still available. In your opinon is there any areas which you would advise us not to live from the list above and are there any unknown pitfalls,/costs that we should be aware of when renting. I have heard that a few people that have rented in "gated" properties have had trouble with managers, so we will be avoiding these properties.
Is there is anything you wish you'd had know before or once you arrived, i suppose thats a good question,

Hi, I know someone who's daughter goes to Coombabah; (just to say hello to though) and I don't think she's having any probems with it. Don't know anyone at Helensvale. None of your listed areas are bad. There are loads of gated complexes on pine ridge road near the school, they seem to have signs for rent up a bit for rentals, but don't know anyone who's had one to rent. Helensvale is best for the motorway, when it's busy it can be a bit of a trek up there in the morning. There's also Pacific Pines, lots of people who live there rate it. There's nothing I can think of really that we wish we knew; it took us longer to get a rental than we thought, but 6 weeks is plenty of time. You probably know it's 4 weeks rent as a bond, and two weeks upfront, and you get inspected every 3 months to check you're not wrecking it. If I think of anything else later I'll pm you.
