Moving

Hi. I'm Mollie. Currently at school and enjoying myself there, with my friends. My parents want to move to Australia and have set up with a company and applied. They're hoping to go as soon as they can!

However, I don't know what to do. I know my parents are doing it to benefit me and my brother, and that we will have a healthier lifestyle over there. But still I don't think I could leave all my family and friends.

If we do go, I want it to be when I have finished my GCSEs. But my dad wants be to go sooner because he thinks I will fit in better going to school there, and he doesn't want me falling in love before I go and not want to leave!

So if there's anyone out there in the same position as me, or if you have had to leave your friends please let me know how you've got on! And is it easy fitting into a school or college there?

Hi Mollie,

I know you want to do your GCSE's but I'm not sure that they will count for anything in Australia so it may be worth checking if it's better to come here and do the same exams as the kids in Aus do, then when you're applying for courses/jobs etc., you're on a level playing field.

My children are 12 and 8 and both fitted in really well here and made friends quickly. They keep in touch with mates back in the UK and Alex is hoping that one day her best friend will be able to come to see her - they still think of themselves as best mates even at the other side of the world.
