Anyone in Kalgoorlie
G,day all
We have chosen Kalgoorlie as a possible destination. Before we make our final descision we would like a breakdown of the monthly expenses( rent, groceries etc).We would like to to hear from people living in Kalgoorlie or who have lived there or work there.
Also could you tell us what are the job prospects.I am a qualified General electrician with 20 years experience in Industrial, commercial, domestic and Gold surface mining.
Please can we have answers only from people who have experienced life in Kalgoorlie as we would like to hear it from the horses mouth.
Cheers

Hi OH,
I don't know much about Kalgoorlie. I did know a couple who went to Perth. Isn't it quite a bit inland and hot and famous for gold mining????
Anyway I have been spending hours surfing the www and found a link that seems up to date about cost of living in Australia. Not just WA but at least it gives you an idea.
Good luck

i lived there for 18 months at the start of the 90s so dont know how it is now but at the time it was just a mad mining town and as i was only 21 and single it was big fun on the edge of the bush with loads of work and lots of money to be made . a travel writer came to town from the uk and wrote an article with the title THE WANKERS CAPITAL OF THE WORLD much to the dismay of the locals. there wasnt much there for families just red bulldust and 30 pubs with topless barmaids. hope this helps
