Ideas for family New Year in Perth?

Does anyone have any ideas for a family new year celebration in Perth? Perth Zoo has sold out and Northbridge looks a bit too full on (is it???)

We're staying NOR at the moment so the family celebrations in Rockingham & Mandurah are a bit too far.

Very open-minded as to what we do but want to make it a bit special and having a 5 year old (& no babysitter!) limits the options.

Thanks for letting me know, I remember in Newcastle it was the pubs that closed on NYE!!

We've got a kind of plan, OH is working in CBD until 5ish so I'm going to meet him from work with a posh picnic, which we'll have in King's Park & then catch a bit of the early evening celebrations in Northbridge until it's too late/too much & then head back to the pool if it's still warm enough (the pool being a 12" inflatable but still a novelty to us!)

      Anyone think of anything better?

My Oh is working til midnight and it's my first NYE in Oz, so not alot I can do. There are some fireworks at WA greyhounds but I'm not sure if I'm going.
I read a report that said symptoms of stress were eating too much, drinking too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Who are they kidding, that's my perfect day.

Big hugs to everyone who is working (or worse at home whilst OH is working), I've been there and done that.

We're going to go for the picnic to King's Park & we'll be heading home long before midnight!

The Rockingham & Mandurah celebrations look great but too far, maybe next year when we have finally moved into our rental!

      Thanks everyone.

      Oh and Happy new Year!

We are going to the horse racing at Gloucester Park. the gates open and the fun starts at 4pm, i know the evening entertainment wont be great for kids i.e. concerts and live music but there may be some things early on in the night?

      Have fun
