      Smile The 4 minute shower

I have heard that in WA they are recommending people to have a 4 minute shower due to the energy shortage, is this the case and have you heard of people doing this.

I tried to do this the other day for fun and can only do it if I do not wash my hair, I don't know how some of you girls would manage.

      Regards

we had to do this last march when we stayed with friends in perth ...only then it was due to water shortages ....it aint long is it !!!
The bit i hated was having to fill a tumbler to brush teeth ...yuck
it sure does make you realise how much you are actually wasting !!!

4 Mins never manage it, I leave my conditioner in to soak that long!!!

I do switch the tap off when brushing my teeth now, so similar to tumbler of water I would think.

A hotel i stayed in tried to encourage this - there was an egg timer stuck on the wall in the shower for you to use. As others have said it worked so long as no hair washing was needed. On those days i simply tipped the timer over again.... and again - ooh i'm so bad!!

As a state we've managed to save quite a bit of energy last month. The 4 min showers won't last much longer, I don't think. This time is was due to the gas explosion. We probably take slightly longer in the shower, but try to reduced water by not keeping the tap running. When you get your statement from the water board it tells you if you're below average water use.

The 4 minute shower is actually very easy! I was on 2 minute showers in Brisbane last year and had it down to a fine art.

      1. Wet body and hair.
      2. switch off shower.
      3. Rub shower gel all over and shampoo your hair.
      4. Rinse and switch off again.
      5. Conditioner in hair & Shaving foam on legs (should you require it!). Tumbler of water at the ready.
      6. Shave legs with shower off, rinsing razor in tumbler.
      7. Rinse, and step out of the shower!

It's great fun really, lol. Not terribly luxurious I have to say, but when the dams were nearly empty I felt duty bound to look after my new country.

It can be done, we have a timer on our wall too, the showers seem to be quite powerful over here to so this all helps.

As Kirsty has mentioned just turn off the shower when you are doing other things, all helps to save the water!
