Wink where in wa???

We are hoping to get to WA but are unsure of where to settle, ideally we want to be near the beach and within 1 hour of perth.

any suggestions would be appreciated we have 1 wife who wants to socialise and meet like minded people, 1 17 year old boy and a 14 year old girl, dont worry about me as i will be working and do not mind where i live.

someone has suggested joondalup another ocean reef and another bunbury, all suggestions would be greatly appreciated as we really do not have a clue.

is there anywhere to avoid, we are hoping to do a reccie in Nov can anyone give us any pointers on where to look.

thank you in advance for you replies

chris

There are really so many nice places here that it's hard to mention one or two. Alot of newer suburbs north of the River (Joondalup etc.,) but also lots of new developments in the south - Mandurah, Port kennedy, secret harbour are popular destinations for Brits to settle. Then you've got places like Byford - again developing and only about 30 mins from places (not near the beach) I actually live in an older established suburb called Leeming, which is close to the City (10 mins by train) and Freo (20 min drive). Have you had a look on Australia migration - suburb profiles, accommodation, schools, real estate, jobs in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Darwin and Hobart. it gives you a list of suburbs, links to schools and approx average house prices (although this i think is about a year old now), to give you a general idea. When you come in november, I would try to narrow down a few suburbs to look around both north and south before you decide.

Bunbury is two hours from Perth and is surrounded by beaches and the wine region and is beautiful but quite quiet but just depends what you want from life. We love it here but I'd bring the kids down with you to take a look as it just might be too quiet for them to be honest, depends if they are out door types or want lots of pubs and clubs, as we haven't got a huge amount.

We live five mins from the beach in Dalyellup and Bunbury has a choice of 3 beaches on its doorstep and plenty within 20 mins drive as well.

hi bensmum

Have just come back from Perth, stayed NOR, had a good look round, went SOR and loved it especially Mandurah, so much to do for the kids and adults too. has plenty off shops, and lots of affordable housing, stunning beaches, and the train! the place is booming. Mandurah has it all!!
