Smile Looking for QA Work in Perth area/Great for families?

Hi you all,

I'm a qa tech looking for work in or around Perth area.
Currently working in a brewery for the last 16 years in the UK but looking to make that big step via a sponsered visa.

As I have four children ( 6, 8, 9,11) I have heard that Perth is great for families. Can anyone confirm this and also suggest areas with good schools and amenities, beach etc. that would be worth me researching.

I am also a part time web designer so maybe i could develop that into a career if i cant find anthing although other threads on this forum would suggest the the I.T. market is pretty competitive.

I guess when it comes down to it i will do anything to get to Oz lol

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Fantastic thread!!

Regards,
Mick

Thanks for those words Malc.

Oddly enough i was reading a couple of your posts on another thread about 10 mins ago lol.

I seem to spend too much time on here when i should be working but what the hell.

I was up Yorkshire a couple of weekends ago, Whitby to be precise, what a great town!

How long did it take you to get to Oz and has it lived up to expectations?

Regards,
Mick

Hi again Mick

Firstly lucky sod going to gods own country Yorkshire lol I was a frequent visitor to Whitby for the fishing and a bit of socialising lol. We firstly looked at coming to Oz Sept a throw away commenton one of those evenings when you are pissed off OH a nurse and was havin a nhs moment we looked in her nursing mag rang some numbers. We were contacted by Sophie at Vital International( wot a star), it was called summat different then. We were advised to go thro the 457 route becos we are over 45, she copached us throughj the whole process, Oct application approved December. We are now going for Pr, our lasses hospital are sponsoring us. This was the only route we could have taken. You can get a straight pr sponsored or not. Life is good, you have to accept it is not the uk. Weo to the beach a lot and I go on my bike .We see the families on the beach and in the parks, There are tons of activities for kids and families, it far outweighs the abscence of a dacent pint of English traditional beer

Only kidding

You have the skills to make youself a top life wish I had em mate

Malc

Well done Malc, it sounds your 'living the dream' as they say

I know the grass always looks greener but its forums like this and speaking to folks like you that puts things into perspective.

Dont even try to get me started on why we want to emigrate but they are probably the same for 90% of the users on the forum.
I need to make the break from talking about it, to actually doing something about it.

My wife has been doing some restaurant work recently after taking 10 yrs off to raise kids so we dont qualify for the skilled trade visa hence the sponsor route looks better for us.
I'm rapidly approaching 43 and my wife 39 so i would rather move sooner than later as the age will go against me.

Did you do a reckkie first to check out locations or just go for it ?
If i come down with all 6 of us its prob gonna set me back about £5k which would be one hell of a holiday I realise but its still an awful lot of cash.

Thanks for your thoughts and comments,
Chat soon.

Mick

Well Mick

We did not do a recce, my own feelings are that you get in the holiday mood and look at the wrong perspectives. I don`t know where you are thinking of heading, we are in Perth but you woukd be far better saving your money for the big push. Its my own point of view so do not take this as the norm, but leavin any where because you think that the place is this and that can lead to a wrong perspective when you get there. Try and live the life where you are and not where you have been. I have had a couple of beers aussie ones yuk lol. What I am trying to say is whatever you do don`t look back look forward. Check up on seek for jobs in your field you should have no probs

all the best
Malc

ps
oz beer is still p@@S

There are so many nice areas that it's hard to say one in particular, everyone wants something different and can usually find it. Don't know if you've looked on Australia migration - suburb profiles, accommodation, schools, real estate, jobs in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Darwin and Hobart but that gives you a list of suburbs and also average house prices (may have risen from when it was done), but also links to schools. People add comments too. It helps to know where's affordable to
