Looking for info on Wanneroo, Currambine & Tapping

Can anyone tell me anything about living in these areas, we are a family of 4 and there seems to be quite a few rental properties available, I dont know if thats a good thing. What are the primary schools like and how far is the beach?

Nic

May I caution you that you need to identify the property that you wish to rent and then also identify your neighbours. Both Wanneroo and Currambine have a reasonably large 'homes west' pop, not so sure about Tapping. The watch here is, youre prospective house may be great, your neighbours or street may not be.
The beach is about 15mins with a fair wind...or 30 with the traffic against you...That is in a car...Cycle worst case 25 mins.
Easy access to shops, industrial areas. Dont know about the schools.
Most plots and properties seem very modern...
Hope this helps...

Hi,
We've just built an investement property in Tapping & it's in a very nice street, from what I've seen driving around the area it looks good otherwise we wouldn't have built in the area. it's a new suburb so very modern houses.

There are a few schools St Stephens has a very good name, my friend's a teacher in carramar primary. I have friends who live in Carramar, Tapping & Currambine I think these areas are all ok!!! I don't live too far from them either in Ocean Reef so i think my comments are accurate enough.
In any of these areas you're not far from beach, shopping cinemas, restaurants etc I think it's a good choice.

Wanneroo is an older type suburb that is currently undergoing a major revamp (not before time too!). We lived there for 10 years in Scott Road and our 3 boys grew up in Wanneroo and went to East Wanneroo Primary School there. House prices in Wanneroo vary from around the $300K mark up to several million dollars. Rentals in the area have risen dramatically with the average rent now for just something quite basic hovering around $280 to $320 per week.

I currently have a couple of 'cheapies' for sale on the market in Wanneroo circa $350K, plus I have a big 4 x 2 with study on at $530K. Expect prices in the Wanneroo area to rise once all the renovations and extensions are completed on the new shopping centre and adjoining swimming pool complex. Beach at most would be a 15 minute drive.

Currambine is more upmarket; closer to the beach (5 minutes away); if there are Homes West properties (council houses) there............ I haven't noticed any and i have been selling houses in that area for the last decade? In fairness to the people living in council houses; I was brought up in one and it never did me any harm. Currambine is a nice suburb, very close to everything, and the schools are A-ok according to my clients. There is a shopping centre there complete with cinema complex; plus an abundance of sporting facilities nearby.

Tapping is virtually an overspill of Carramar Golf Course estate; it's quite new and has excellent schools in the area. 10 minutes at most to the beach, 5 minutes away from Wanneroo shopping centre, 10 minutes away from the City of Joondalup and its shops, banks, train station, cinemas, restaurants etc. 2 minutes away from the very popular Carramar Golf Course. A little bit out in the sticks, nothing flash by way of infrastructure at the moment but new shops to service both Tapping and Carramar are underway at present, will probably be complete early next year. There is a tavern going up too. A local deli known as the Tucker Shop on Balladong Loop at Carramar services residents quite well if they run out of anything............... shops at Wanneroo aren't too far away, nor are the shops at Candlewood in Joondalup.

Hope this info helps.

I live in Currambine and I do not know of a LARGE quantity of Homeswest in this area, we have lived here in 2 different houses for the past 5 years and Iit is a lovely area. Like all suburbs there are some streets nicer than others. Also the nearest beach Burns Beach is a 5 minute drive.

Hi Nic

Tapping and Carramar are lovely areas, but you may need to consider where you are going to be working at. If it is around Joondalup they are the perfect area. if however it is going to be in the city or one of the industrial areas (Malaga or Osborne Park) you are going to have quite a comute along Wanneroo Road everyday. I live in Madeley which is a new suburb on Wanneroo Road and it takes me half an hour every morning just to get to Osborne Park for work and Thats only 8km of Wanneroo Road. There are only 2 main Roads North and they are both bottle necks at rush hour times.

Still Love the Place Though!!

I drop my wife off at Joondalup train station each morning (takes 10 minutes, less if lights are green). She then takes a 15 minute train ride to Osborne Park........ no traffic jams and the train is as cheap as chips............ her work place at Ossie Park is a 5 minute walk from the station.

I would love to be a bit more eco friendly but unfortunatle there is never any parking at Warwick or Greenwood Train Station and then I would have a massive walk to work as I work at the top of Hecter Street.

Still Im going self employed next week so it want be a problem anymore.

Good luck with your venture into self-employment; definitely the way to go. It's our second anniversary next week since we went out on our own; and no complaints whatsoever. It can be hard yakka............. but you only get out of it what you put into it and being your own boss is just magic, very much worthwhile.

Now if i could only attract some new staff members to lessen the workload.......... then we have really cracked it.

Hope you achieve the same success as what we have.

regards

Johnno
