Well,we just got a call from the company Dave applied to and the wages were disappointing. People move from NZ to Oz becoz of the money but we haven't seen that incentive. The wages in small towns are no better than NZ,

After reading all these posts on here I recommended to my OH that we consider Bunbury area. However, he has been told by someone who has been out there and come back (now regretting it I hasten to add!) that he needs to be neare Perth for his line of work i.e. Secret Harbour, Mandurah. He is a Pipe/Fitter welder specialising in stainless steel and would be looking to do work in breweries or dairies.

Should we stay nearer the city or would Bunbury area be an option???

Yes as much as I love the look of the area I'm worried about lack of job choices. OH is a printer and that's the job in Busso, but he is also a photographer and is currently working as a builder. Lol. We understand he wouldn't be able to work as a builder in Oz without doing some training and he doesn't know if he could stand working outside in the heat. So he's looking at printing or print production or photography. Don't see many jobs advertised though. An odd thing I've noticed is how many jobs don't seem quite full time, or finish really early. The job in Busso was from 8am -3.30pm!

We'll probably end up closer to Perth too, but I can't resist going south for a look when we come over. By the way what is the estate called in Dallyellup with the lake in the middle?

Lol. There you go. I know it's not that big, but I assumed there'd be some estate called something cute like Silver Sands or Forestfields.

Up to yet there is over 5000 people and nearly 2000 houses and they are still building, school is overflowing, and another due to be built, high school nearly done. Only one downer yet no shops, don't know when they will start them

You might find lots of dairies down the south west as we live in the farming area and on our travels we've seen plenty of cattle but they might be for eating!!!!!!! Plenty of farms all around Bunbury/Busso/Dunsborough.

Hi

Most of Perth Wa is zonal commercial, residebtial industrial etc so you have a patricular area where the industry is. A lot of fiems do not employ maintainance peoplr but have contracters tto do the work\. Should have no probs getting work but may have to travel a bit
