we've only been up to the city to visit friends as we've found we don't really need to go up there for anything as we've got everything we need down here in Bunbury. Depends what type of lifestyle you are looking for, we came here to avoid the traffic jams of city life and the fast pace as we came from a big city and got fed up of travelling an hour to work in the mornings and 1hr and a half home due to the traffic when we only lived 4 miles out of the city. We now travel 15 mins to work and its brilliant and no issues with parking or anything like that.

Thanks for all your replys! Found them really helpful.
Adey do you think my husband would find work as an electrician within a half hour commute?

There is loads of building works here in the Bunbury area as they are building about 3 brand new estates, plus new schools/colleges and if more industrial type of electrician work there are loads of factories/mines/industrial businesses in this area as well.
All depends where you are heading Secret Harbour is nearer Perth/Mandurah/Rockingham and plenty of houses and industries there as well.
If you want to come down south then contact South West Development Commission they have a full list of sponsors offering places down the south west region so may give you a better idea of what jobs are avaialbe.
There are plenty of admin jobs here, I got a job in the third week here, and if you are a HR professional then I'm sure you'll find the above link helpful as well as you'll most probably find a sponsor from them as well.
My husband just saw a good job advertised in Busselton, but I can't find many 4 bm houses in Busselton and they seem quite expensive. Bunbury is cheaper but about 50km away. I'm interested in the number of people who are in Dalyellup. Sounds nice and good prices for housing. Are the nearby beaches any good or do you go to Bunbury? Would it be feasible to live in Dalyellup and commute to Busselton? How long would it take? Is there a good state high school nearby? How does the weather compare to Perth?
Hi,
We have a really good primary school which our oldest son loves and our youngest is going to start in Feb. The new high school will open (hopefully) in February too, and they both will be joined even though on 2 sites and called Dalyellup College, there is also a private Lutherian school here too and have heard good reports about that as well.
the beaches in Dalyellup are lovely too but can be somtimes a bit rough for the younger ones, so then you just go 10 mins into Bunbury to Koombana where the beaches are also brilliant and the sea is mostly calm.
There are lots of clubs for the children to join here in Dalyellup and the adults.

Dalyellup is a very safe place to live I'd say and the local kids either walk or ride their bikes to school if their parents don't drop them off on the way to work.
As you leave the estate you literally turn right and its 40 mins down one long road to Busso.
There's a day care centre for kids not sure what ages up to though, its a very good facilitated part of Bunbury and a new shopping centre is also being built here.
Apparently on a letter all parents received all years from year 5 will be going to the high school to start with (bit daft opening a whole school for 1 year especially as the other one is over crowded)
Yes most children go to school by themselves except of course the younger ones
There are a few daycare centres and before and after school centres too.
busselton I believe is just over half hour to an hour away.
What is it OH does?

I will try and hide this post from OH as he loves Bunbury and is trying to pursuade me that this is the place to go. I would rather go to Mandurah as its nearer the city but his heart is Bunbury. Must admit it was nice but just feel its too far away from City.
Hi, We were originally going to go to Bunbury, but for reasons to long to mention, we ended up settling in Mandurah. We prefer it here. I, personally, didn't like Bunbury. However, when we went there it was a public holiday, so there was nothing happening, so that probably didn't do it any justice. Perth is less than an hour by train from Mandurah and I'm reliably informed that it's a very good service.

yep on public holidays you'll find most of Bunbury closed but there are usually events taking place around the area for kids/families etc the local paper will list what's on over holidays. The cafes are open and the cafes in Koombana bay are open together with MASH Brewery.
We went to Mandurah on a public holiday and it was absolutely heaving but lovely to see all the pubs open and lots of people enjoying themselves along the waterfront.
Bunbury looks like it will be having its own Mandurah type waterfront over the next couple of years.
