Question A bit more land?

We have been looking at areas in WA to rent and live and keep going round and round. We started off thinking about Port Kennedy and the Rockingham and Mandurah areas but now getting a bit put off by the little britain feeling we seem to be hearing. So decided to look a bit more inland so we could have a bit more land anyway. Anybody heard or know anything about Meadow Springs or Baldivis or anymore inland areas sor????

Hello Scottdog how are you doing?

Well we always said no to northern suburbs because we thought it was a LOT hotter than sor??? I know the beaches and suburbs look lovely but isn't it really hot?

Hi dave&donna

"little britain" reputation has put us off too - interested to see what replies you get to this - we have been looking around forrestfield, maida vale areas recently - east of Perth CBD, so further from coast but we might just be able to afford that all-important pool!!!

I think you just have to go and get a feel for the different areas - if it feels right for you does it matter whether there are a lot of brits or aussies? We are a little more fortunate in that we dont have to consider settling children so will rent for 6-12 months and have a good look around.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL IN YOUR SEARCHES
Keep us posted - always interesting to hear different views on the areas

A bit surprised why you would be put off by the little Britain feeling about the area as having fellow brits in the same situation as yourself can really help in finding your feet in a new and strange place. There are also lots more Brits North of the river, i lived in Wanneroo and Joondalup, Iluka, Woodvale, Clarkson, Beldon, Padbury and Greenwood are full of Brits which i personally enjoyed. Not sure where you are NOR Scottdog that you don't have many Brits around you.

Baldivis and Meadow Springs are both good areas. Meadow Springs is more established and basically in Mandurah where Baldivis is a new area in the Rockingham region.

Good luck and enjoy when you get here

Some migrants in the Uk often get slated for staying within their own communities - perhaps people want to avoid the same being said about them here in Aus.

Personally, I just don't wanna be a sheep!! Would like to make my own "mark" and establish a circle of friends from all communities, not just huddle in a group of Brits (no offence, everyone!!).
Don't know if that makes sense, but I want to move to a DIFFERENT country, not "Blackpool with sunshine" (now I'm gonna get slated from anyone that lives in Blackpool - I'm not saying theres anything wrong with Blackpool, honest!!!)
