any help would be appreciated

Hi im new to here and am wondering if anyone could give me any advice please.
Me and my husband thought about moving to oz a couple of years ago but put it on the back burn as we where getting married and i then fell pregnant.
We are now ready and really wanting to move. I have spent hours searching the web but just getting my self more confussed as it seems a complicated process.
We are looking to move to perth as my husband has an aunt and uncle in perth who have said they will sponser us.
My husband is a plasterer he has been a plasterer for approx 17 yrs four of those he did his apprentership. He has a nvq 2, city & guilds and cscs. If i am right we could apply for a independant skilled migrant visa.
I have done loads of free online assesments which pretty much say the same.
Does anyone know if there is much work for plasterers? also could anyone advice of a agent. We dont have any savings so my husband is going to have to work his butt off to pay for everything. Any advice and help would really be appreciated as we are determined to move.

many thanks

i think the best thing to do is to apply to an agent..and see what they say... i used one based in perth and did it all online... I'm a hairdresser and had all my nvq's etc.. he will have to prove working hours and wages etc... but my agent assessed us before going for it so we knew if we had a chance... give it a go... we have our skilled visa and are moving to perth soon...all the best chatty

If your husband has his apprentice papers & his certificates from his training & if he has worked for someone else & can get references it is fairly simple to fill out the application form for skilled independant visa which would probably be your easiest option.

You can download the forms from the immigration web site when filling in your details just get all the information you can to back up your application. For example fill in all the details regarding his training & back it up with photo copies of the certificates, when filling in his employment records try to obtain references from past employers stating dates of employment (sometimes an exact date is hard to get but I think so long as you put the year & maybe month that is ok) what the duties were with as much information as possible & reason for leaving. We had trouble getting some references for employment because a couple of the firms were no longer trading but hubby just got letters from people he worked with stating they had worked with him & the firm was no longer trading.

Once you get all the information together take copies of everything to a solicitor & get them certified by him so that you can send the certified copies with the application.

If your husband has been self employed he would need to go to a solicitor to make a sworn statement about that time & perhaps get letters from people confirming he had carried out work for them & from suppliers confirming you trade with them this ensures your information is backed up.

Doing it this way would definately be cheaper than employing a migration agent but if you are not sure you might be better paying the cost of having professional help

Your hubby will need to get his skills assessed first - lots of people have done that and can offer you advise on what needs to be put in.
