Hi all, We are a young family visiting Perth in May for reaserch. We want to move to perth within the next 12months. I am a nurse, my husband is a Mechanical engineer (specalised in aircons) and I have two small daughters aged 4 & 2yrs. So what should we do and when. We want to see as much as possible, but where do we start? Areas, schools, jobs, beaches, shopping, parks, City, trains roads, etc.....Has anyone done a rekkie trip to check things out? Did they find anything that was useful? Any advice is welcome! Or just a chat, is also welcome!
Kings park-especially the ivy watson playground for under 5's (its huge!) and synergy park on the other side of kings park.
Scitech-science exhibitions, sounds boring but all geared around children and really good, definatly worth a visit.
The zoo of course-fantastic.
Cottesloe beach, has nice shaded area for children-but find the currents much stronger here than UK.
Fremantle is a great day out too.
Im still discovering more places myself!

Hi
we came in early feb without a recce jumped in both feet, wifes a nurse sponsored by Charlies loves it, not being a killjoy but if you are intending to come permanently I would look at the suberbs job situ schools etc. After youve done the mundane stuff have a ball Perths brill. If you hit Mullalloo beach and see a big brown walrus its not dangerous just give me a kick n say hi
Malx
The grass aint greener
Its brown but dont have to cut it

HI GUYS IF YOU ARE ONLY GOING FOR 3 WEEKS I WOULD BE TEMPTED TO CONCENTRATE ON THE AREA YOU ARE GOING TO LIVE IN !! [OR DO YOU NOT KNOW YET ] THIS IS SOME THINGS WE DID LAST YEAR THAT WE FOUND INVALUABLE
VISIT A SHOW VILLAGE ... WHERE YOU CAN SEE HOUSES AND WHAT YOU CAN GET FOR YOUR MONEY ... OR IF YOU HAVE TIME GO TO AN OPEN HOUSE VIEWING
CAR SHOWROOMS /MOTORBIKE DEALERS
SHOPPING ARCADES ... TO GET AN IDEA OF PRICES
BUY THE WESTERN AUSTRALIAN NEWSPAPER ON A WED/SAT AS THIS IS WHEN THE JOBS ARE ADVERTISED
TRY THE INDUSTRIAL AREAS OF KEWDALE AND WELSHPOOL FOR O/H JOB
IN MAY THE BEACHES MAY BE A BIT COOOOLD TO BE ON .... BUT A VISIT TO HILLARYS HARBOUR IS A MUST ... THEY HAVE A SEALIFE CENTRE THERE
THE GIRLS WILL LOVE A VISIT TO KAHUNA WILDLIFE PARK WHERE YOU CAN FEED THE KANGAROOS AND HOLD THE KOALAS !!!
PERTH ZOO IS ALSO A FAV
KINGS PARK IS A MUST .... GREAT VIEWS
I GATHER YOU WILL BE HIRING A CAR .... BEST TO DO THAT OVER THERE AS YOU GET BETTER DEALS
A TRIP TO MANDURAH [ROUGHLY AN HOUR SOUTH] IS A GOOD DAY OUT
CANT THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE AT MO BUT IF I DO I WILL PM YOU
CHEERS
MRS KEILY
PS IF YOUR O/H IS INTO MOTORBIKES /SPEEDWAY THE WANNEROO RACEWAY IS A MUST

He He we've been here almost 15 months and still haven't got over to Rotto (ferry fare is a bit expensive I think), Kings park is great, but for the Children (and big kids) Caversham Wildlife park which is in Whiteman Park - Go to the wildlife park in the morning (leave a picnic in the car) - it takes a few hours to go round - there's kangaroos to pet, koala's, wombats and native animals - not too big a park for the little ones. After that, stay in whiteman park for your picnic - there's loads to do there and also a big paddling pool type area.
