We have applied for State sponsored 176 visa and can only live in Peel region, WA.
Appreciate if you could advise the areas closer to Perth which are in Peel region.
Going through various forums, I think Mandurah and Rockingham are popular places. We come from beach area so would love to live in a leafy area for a change.
Also the area should have a good High School and Primary school as we have kids going to school.
Rockingham isn't in the Peel region, Port Kennedy & Secret Harbour are probably the most northern part of the Peel region. We have a Peel visa and moved to Mandurah. All the best, Acacia
Hi Mari,
We have been here for 4 months living in Silver Sands, Mandurah. We don't have any children, so can't give info on schools etc. I could always ask people at work any of these types of questions for you. The parks and facilities for children/teenagers seems good and we have been impressed by how well the public facilities are maintained. It's growing fast and loads of development. It is a fisherman's paradise with lots of waterways/estuaries/beaches. This summer has been very hot with hardly no rain - flies have been the worst they had had in years(Dec/Jan), mosquitos have also been the worst(Feb/March). There is a new train service opened in Dec which travels through to Perth(1hr, it's great and cheap).
The downs - not a good time to ask as I'm missing the UK terribly, even though I'm originally from S.Africa. The young people drive too fast in very noisy cars, most drivers have no idea about cyclists and believe they shouldn't be on the roads! I don't find the Australians very friendly and very agressive generally. We have both found it difficult getting jobs and employers don't acknowledge job applications and one didn't even tell me the outcome of interview. Estate Agents don't give personal service and you have to fit in with them for viewings. So as I said I haven't found my feet yet, so take all this with a pinch of salt!
All the best, Acacia
Peel region ends at Madora Bay which is just north of Mandurah between Rockingham & Mandurah.
If its lovely rural type property you are looking for you will find plenty of it around Mandurah there are many estates within 20 minutes of Mandurah city which offer leafy suburbs check out the real estate pages look for Dawesville, Country Roads, North Yunderup, South Yunderup, Barragup, Stake Hill, Ravenswood Furnisdale, Falcon Lakelands. All these suburbs are only a few minutes drive from Mandurah & around 20- 40 mins from Rockingham.
Block sizes range from around 5 acres to 700 mt with prices relevant to that.
your post started us looking into the areas you mentioned which seems to answer some of our wants and worries. We want to live closeish to the beach but not bothered about being 15 mins away. We just don't want to live in the middle of little britain which some of the areas around rockingham and mandurah seem to be called now.
We would like a bit more land well an ok sized garden not acres of land but in a suburb still with some sort of community and with good schools. Any recommendations of which to avoid and which to look at?
Also Dave will be a field service engineer so travelling around but we're not sure where exactly and how often but the company are based in perth - how would the travel be from the areas you mentioned?
Hi,

I would like to know about High Schools and Primary Schools in Mandurah.
