thanks for the invite to chat, thought it would be rude not to!
We are waiting on visa decision any day/week/month now and would love to be over in WA by Jul/Aug this year. Just wondered if you could give us an idea of life in Bunbury and surrounding. Me and my other half are coming out to Perth or surrounding areas and we still cannot make up our minds on areas. It changes weekly!.....I'm sure we are not alone.
One minute we think we need to be right in the heart of Perth, the next, we are looking at Mandurah or the SE region. I think we will not know until we come over so may rent mid way maybe Mandurah area to allow us to visit all areas.
We are migrating with two small dogs and no kids yet, although am trying! Am both late thirties so sometimes we think we need to be in the thick of it to have some interests as some threads give you the impression of places being quiet outside of Perth or without children and other times we want something maybe even rural.
Glen is a carpenter and I am a beauty therapist, although I will not be working for a while. Glen is not sure whether he wants to work for himself or for someone else on arrival so we are playing it by ear. His ideal job would be to do bespoke work on luxury boats/yaughts but he realises that jobs like that do not come along everyday. Not boatbuilding but he would love to fit out the interiors. I may like to open my own beauty shop one day, or even just work self employed from home to begin with.
How do you think our trades would fair in Bunbury area or surrounding? Is it too quiet for these trades?
What do you and your other half do? if you don't mind me being nosey.
Glen loves fishing and would like to end everyday down the beach/lake/river doing just this. Or even get a boat one day. We both like to walk the dogs, keep fit, socialise, whether in pubs or at friends houses/barbecues and eat good food in particular. We just want somewhere that is friendly, sociable, lively in places so you can go out now and again (we dont really go pubbing here but we do now and again) and want somewhere that has restaurants. We love to eat nice food out and will eat pretty much anything especially fresh fish and fusion foods and spicy too! So am hoping that WA can provide this. Some threads you read people say there is so much junk food, what do you think?
We are not really city people so that is why we probably dont want to settle in Perth (apart from the obvious tourist places to see) if we can help it but would rather settle in other areas in WA if we can. I have always said I would love to live rural but on the edge of a town/village or basically somewhere with a bit of life. But not sure if WA has anything like this. I think UK has loads of places like that because everything is so near, but not sure about WA due to distances.
Also what is the weather like in Bunbury. Some threads give you the impression it is much colder than Perth, can you enlighten us. Perth maybe sound too hot in the height of summer if you ask me.
Anyway, I hope I havn't overloaded you with questions (ever wish you never offered) but would love to get an insiders view of your area. So many people comment on Perth suburbs NOR & SOR and not really in any depth about further south, so we look forward to hearing from you soon.
Glen & Shirley p.s. just had gale force winds over here last week with sideways wind....just in case your missing it.

Hi Clare
I live in Eaton too!!!! We have been here just over a year after spending time in Busselton. We have two older boys 13 and 17. We often meet up with other poms here for coffee and lunch etc. Maybe you could join us on our next one?
Hi Clare,
We are The Denham family, moving to 'PERTH' early next year. We are coming over in may for 3weeks, do check areas out. We are staying in quinns rock, but would love to meet up with you whilst we are there. I am a nurse, hoping to work in perth CBD. I have two small children, so good areas to settle in are essential. Also, if there is anything you are missing, ie, 'pg tips' or 'cadburys chocolate', let me know and I can bring some over!
Hope to chat!
Just one thing! How are the house prices in bunbury?
Blimey! I know Bunbury is a lovely place, having visited it on a number of occasions in the past few years, but i didn't realise it was this populated.
I was a pa in the UK (formerly a hairdresser) and hubby was a domestically qualified electrician. When we got here we realised my earning capacity working part time (we have 2 kids) was minimal and he was unable to work as an electrician as he didn't have a full ticket. So, even being on a tight budget we still manage to enjoy the beach, bush etc. You would both find work easily around this area.
So what did you both end up doing in the end workwise?
we live here too and we both love it, no kids but trying so enjoying the peace and quiet at the moment!!!!! Great place to live as long as you don't mind a chilled out lifestyle.

Hi Clare
At work at moment just that I would say hi. I have just got a job at St John of God hospital in Bunbury and can t wait to get across and see Bunbury as have done many hours research and it just looks beautiful. Its so exciting I feel I have to pinch myself, my family and I have got medicals next week so fingers crossed everything will go well and we get visa soon and join you in Bunbury.
How long have you been in Bunbury? Are there a lot of brits living in Bunbury?
Its Sarah again, congrats on the job I'm sure last time you were just considering it. There are Brits here Eaton/Dalyellup definately have British families living in them. Think lots of them meet up as well but we haven't met that crowd yet, as we both work full time and don't have kids so its harder to meet people I guess.
C u when you get here I'm sure, its great, even though its winter now its 18 outside the sky is bright blue and the sun is shining and its warm enough not to have to wear a jacket just a thin layer of clothes.
