Accountant job prospects in Perth

Are the job prospects good for accountants? A friend of mine told me that Perth has more jobs for mines than most other jobs. It might be hard for dh to find a job?

Many thanks.

Hi my hubby is an accountant and we are now looking to head to Perth. You could try SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site or also www.thinkglobalrecruitment.com will give you information on accountancy in perth. They can secure a job for you before you leave. Newly qualified accountants salaries tend to be about $65k. Why 2 years? Does he need to qualify first? What accountancy qualification is dh doing? what does dh stand for? I always think its "dear hubby" am I wrong?

Sam

Hiya,

Dh stands for darling husband on my other forum. I forget to OH here. I am not what OH means lol?

Anyway a migration agent said that he would have to finish his studies CIMA before we can apply for a skilled visa. We have asked is there any other way we can get out to Oz quicker the answer has always been no. He is studying CIMA Stage 1. He expects this to finish in 5 months. He wants to take 3 papers each time to finish the next levels.

My husband has had 5 years experience within Assistant Accountant role/Accountant. He is currently training in some new areas. To become a Accountant for division of the company. He would be preparing, fixed assets, reporting or something. I am not sure what an Accountant role involves. He said its great. With this in mind my husband my husband technically will not be newly qualified. More like a delayed progress in training. He has been QBE for about 2 years. Its really confusing.

If there was away we could be out there now we would. He will convert his CIMA to CA or whatever the equivalent is?

Am I missing anything. Is there a way we could be out there within 2 years?

Many thanks.

Hi again

Try speaking to the people at think global recruitment or send them an email. Maybe they can find him a sponsored job. I'm not sure if he would need to be qualified for sponsored job if he has lots of experience. Worth a try anyway. My husband has done ACCA and we had a long wait until he qualified. Then after that we were told he need 12 months experience post qualification unless you go for state sponsorship. We looked into this but its restrictive where you can live. Now he has to do the IELTS test to get some extra points so its going through very slowly.Thought this man's story might interest you: whoweare he was CIMA accountant that emigrated back in the 1990's, interesting reading.

Hi - my first post on this site, or on any Australia related forum!

I am an ACCA Finalist with just one exam to pass - that I keep failing! :(

I have however been offered a job in Perth with a firm of Accountants, subject to obtaining the 457 visa - which my UK agency has assured me will not be a problem, as I shall be sponsored by the firm and technically am more than qualified by experience.

So, I have accepted the job and wait patiently to see if I will be successful in the visa application!

Cross your fingers for me and would love to hear of similar stories.

Best regards to all of you.

Thank you for that site. It was lovely reading a british family living out there and hearing about it all. The facts as well. Thank you.

It does look if my dh was a finalist then he would be in a position to become sponsored if a company would like to. It just means he can not apply for a perm skilled visa straight away. I will see how he gets on at Expo.

I know an accountant that moved over here, and although fully qualified, years experience, he needed to do more exams once here to be allowed to work. This makes sense seeing as it's difference laws/regs etc, but from memory I think it would take at least a year, so bear in mind, make sure you have enough money to last while you get sorted!

I have heard about this too. I was told that he could start some of the process before he starts. Or least do the qualifications while he works out there.

Hi the other day when I saw these posts I emailed Alan Collett of Go Matilda who is a migration agent and an accountant in oz. He said there would be no problem getting a job even though not done the other 2 exams to which you refer, ie (Business Taxation/Corporation Law). He said you only need to have done the exams if you are working in a licensing capacity I would take that to mean signing off accounts etc.

Hope this helps.

Sam
