Toddy,

Renting in perth is a nightmare its not like the uk a all.when a home is up for rent a day and time is set for inspection and there could be 20/30 families turn up and invade the property. Those who want to rent the property then lodge rental papers with 1 weeks rental as a deposit.after they have checked out referances work/prev rental history etc the home owner chooses 1 and the rest get there dep back. The way the market is rent is very high and people are having to ut more than 1 deposit down to try and secure a place so its not easy. Also if you come straight from the uk its easy to think in pounds sterling instead of $ and think its cheap rent until you earn $ and the wages here are alot less than the uk.If you want to look at property a good website is Real Estate Institute of WA - Perth Property, Land & Homes For Sale or Rent in Western Australia .The other option is private rental but i found there wasnt much of this here.

Hope this helps.

Well Toddy

You have quite a bit of learning to do about living Perth (and Butler). You will not find any 2 bed flats there, what you will find are streets of 3 or 4 bedroom open plan houses.

If you want a flat, there are some in Joondalup city centre, they would probably be closest. Look on Real Estate, Property, Land and Homes for Sale, lease and rent - realestate.com.au and you'll see Joondalup and surrounding areas has appartments from $290/week up to $600/week according to your required standard. Houses in Butler seem to range from $300/week to $380/week.
