Im moving over to OZ in Aug to be with my family (fed up with the Scottlish weather) after 5 years in the forces, they live in Butler which from the photos seems very nice but i think its going to be too quite for me and Wanneroo is the closest city!
Whats it like is there a good night life? decent employment? or can anyone give me there opion of Butler as its not like my family are going to tell me anything bad lol.

regardless ill be out in Aug

Butler is in the Waneroo Shire, its not exactly like Waneroo is a bustling Metropolis!!!!!
Butler is a new development much closer to the ocean that actually Waneroo
Waneroo is located about 30kms out of Perth City Centre.
I personally think Butler is better , closer to the Ocean and Mindarie, where and Clarkson, much newr areas and some good pubs and resturants.

Wanneroo

I would prefer Wanneroo myself. I lived there for nearly 2 years and worked in Joondalup for over 3 years. I think you will find alot more to do in Wanneroo and it is closer to the city and Joondalup which is a good size and the beach is only a 10min drive away. I think you will be bored in Butler.

I think the only problem with Butler is that it seems quite a way from anywhere. They've got links via Marmion now, and plans for freeway, but will be some time for that, and years for the train lines.

It all depends on what you want out of Perth. Everywhere is pretty close, but after being here a few months you soon get fed up driving along the same roads, even if it is only 10 mins out the way. Properties ocean side of Marmion are naturally more expensive. Joondalup has more activity than Wanneroo, but still it's no Manchester.
