My OH and I are coming to perth for about 10/11 days in April and we need to find cheap, central accomodation that we can use for a base while OH does HGV driving course - we will need to check out schools and rentals while were there-where do we start !!!!!

Hi there

City Stay Apartments are very reasonable and are within walking distance to the centre of Perth. If you want to stay further out you could try Brookestone Holiday lets in Joondalup there is a frequent train in Perth takes about 20 mins. For cheap car rental try Bayswater Car Rental - unfortunately they don't have a web site so you would need to book by fax and they don't have a depo at the airport plus they shut on Saturday afternoons and on Sundays! Otherwise they are very competitive. We went to Perth Christmas 07 / New Year 07 we hired a car from the airport for three days as we arrived on a Saturday then swopped to the Baywater Car Rental saved our selves loads.

If you are feeling brave there are some good hostels - try the YHA web site. My partner and I use hostels and we are in our late thirties!

Hope this helps.

Joondalup would be a good starting point for you.................... handy for everything and hubby could do his HGV driving course. the same mob who run that also run Marcsta training courses which is very handy to have as it's a pre-requisite for working up the mines.

One our 3 sons did his HGV, Marcsta, and Snr First-Aid Course at Joondalup................ went up the mines driving a dust-bin truck, then a bus to and from the airport ............. then he had a bash at being a kitchen hand...... and after 6 months they made him a manager. Heaps of potential over here.
