We only decided we were going to Perth last week and with 6 weeks to go I feel v. unprepared and haven't been able to do any of the research I had planned to do (I have a 2 year old and a 6 month baby). Yes I think we must be mental.
Good new is that my husband has a good job to go to. So thats one worry off the list :0)
Cant wait to get out to Perth and a more outdoor lifestyle (I live in Scotland just now!).
What are your views on the best 'family' subarbs to look at?

My advice is take a short term holiday rental and have a good look around. I like north of the river as it is close to the city, beach with good facilities to hand. You may not like it, you may prefer the hills or south of the river. Just keep an open mind, you can't research everything and have a good look around when you arrive.

Hi,
We are hoping to go to perth early next year, although we are going out in may for a 3week rekkie.
I am a nurse, husband works for 'ford' motor company. He has a degree in mechanical eng, but specialises in aircon. He is having problems getting a job in perth, can you believe it.
I would move there tomorrow if I could!
Goodluck

Hi the Mitchells,

For us location was set by where we got work as I was working shifts initially with an 11pm finsh and I didn't want an hours commute after that. I work in Armadale and hubby's office base is in Malaga - so we're just sor in Leeming. For us it's a great location as we're only 10 mins from the city by train and 20 mins to Freo. Have a good look around when you get here, work out how long it will take hubby to get to work (in rush hour traffic) and it will help you decide the areas you want to live.
