I am an Electronics Technician.

Are there any jobs in carpentry is like asking is the pope catholic.
As long as this housing boom lasts.

I was in quinns rocks over Christmas and yes there are a lot brits up there.
If you are after piece and quiet this is the place for you.
There is a one-kilometre stretch of the beach reserved for walking your dog!

When I first arrived in Australia June last year
Walked along the beach every morning could not believe how quiet and piece full it was
Was tempted to settle in Perth but there are more possibilities of a job in my skill in
Melbourne.

Shopping
The nearest local shops are about 1 kilometre in Brighton
Beer and wine shop, Cole’s etc
There are also shops south of Quinns about 1.5 K away.

The most popular shopping area is Jondaloup
This is few kilometres drive.

Train station
The nearest train station is Clarkson
It is Approx 10-min drive from Quinns
There is a car park but i think is a few dollars to park all day

Or a 15-min bus ride but I think there are only 3 per hour.

Plenty of work for chippies throughout Perth.

Quinns Rocks is okay but it has its good and bad pockets like anywhere else I guess. I was up there today as I had to put a price on two blocks of land at Mindarie........ and my client took me to a coastal beach side cafe in Quinns Rocks for lunch.

I have sold several houses in the Quinns Rocks area............ most of my clients are still there so it can't be all that bad. there is an older part of Quinns with loads of character but older style housing.

They ruined the newer part of Quinns by building houses there which were destined to become Homes West houses (council houses). Quinns Rocks got a bad rap when an
infamous family got evicted from their rental property in Karrinup area and got relocated at Government expense to Quinns Rocks............... and along with them went the general mayhem and havoc they create wherever they go!

On a personal note I myself would not choose to live in Quinns.................. but I'm sure those living there quite enjoy it?

What sort of a budget are you on?

Hiya Bobcat !
We are hoping to bring around £140k give or take, we'll both be working so we don't mind a small mortgage.

We want the beach life, good schools, plenty of sunshine and loads or quality time together around the bbq. We've never been to Oz so we are coming very open minded. Dave is a chippie this how we got the skills but he been a decorator mostly but does all aspects. He was thinking of just renting first and using our money to buy a house to 'do' up and then hopefully selling with a profit, not sure of the implications of this yet.

Any advise you can give is valuable !

Not sure where you are, are you doing beach or country living ?

Looking forward to hearing from you !

Fleur

Bobcat, just googled up Carramar, it looks great and I now know where you are. Just another quick pick at your brain, what the deal on extending houses our there ? we would want a 4bed 2bath, but if we saw a 3bed could we extend it ? or do you have to rip it down and re-build ?

Cheers again.

It all boils down to relevant Council Approval............. and how cost effective same would be. Not everyone listens to us real estate agents and some have come a cropper for not heeding sound advice when it comes to overcapitalising. Rather than extend a house................... sometimes it makes good business sense to offload same and make a shrewd purchase elsewhere.

From a resale point of view I would recommend you buy a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom house; but not everyone can afford a 4 X 2. The second bathroom is essential both from a resale value; plus it is very handy to have if you have children or guests staying with you.

If you look at the thread Bloody Hell........ you'll see photos of our house. We live on a 5 Acre block at Carramar and my real estate office is on the block too. We have the best of both worlds as we are in the 'bush' with kangaroos roaming freely on our land........ but we are only 10 minutes away from the beach (not that we ever go there), and 10 minutes away from the shopping centres at nearby Joondalup or Wanneroo.

By all means look us up when you do arrive.......... next week it is 18 years since we arrived in Perth this time round so i know the place quite well and we can point you in the right direction re many things......... not just real estate matters. We have brought up 3 boys here from babes in arms to being strapping young men now in their early 20's.

Hi Bobcat,

Just wondered as you seem to be a chappy of many talents, do you (or would do) help with finding rental properties as you know the areas arounf Perth so well or do you know somebody that does?

I just don't fancy having to move around with 2 kiddies trying to find something half decent and doubt if the agents would be that helpful unless we were over there.

Cheers in advance

Friends of ours live in Quinns(santa Barbra Parade) and they love it. We spent a couple of days up there with them and thought it looked really nice. I did get bit by somthing in the sand on the beach up there though. loads of times on my bum.. You could feel what ever it was actually bitting
