Smile What to take?

Just 1 more question!!!

What should we take and what should we leave here??? I know i've read about bedding and kids clothes being expensive (so already stocked up in Next sale until they're both 18 - 10 and 8 now!!!) but what else is expensive out there so worth buying here?
I said we should take all white electricals but Dave said no cos freezer drawer is a bit broken plus although it's a big one it's not an american one that i keep seeing in oz homes for sale! and what about washer/dryer because it won't be guaranteed will it? also tv is probably on its way out so it is worth taking everything and paying for shipping or flogging cheap here and buying new there?

Oh other 1 question..... do they sell real christmas trees????
That's it emptied my head again..... for now.....LOL

Hi again

We are moving out end of jan and are almost taking everything except white goods, televisions ect. Have you not been to oz, we love it, thats why we are moving there. Clothes can be more expensive there, but like everything it all depends on what you like. I did find small electrical items more expensive but i think its pro's and cons. Houses are lovely they are so much bigger than here but not as big on gardens but hey who cares when you have sun,sea and glorious beaches.

Sorry don't know about xmas trees!!

Tracy

Hiya, we brought everything with us, we just changed the plugs on all electrical stuff. We have bought a new TV over here but did bring our uk tv with us, had to buy an oz video player to watch it through but it works fine and have it in the family room.

I'd be apt to hold a garage sale over there and start afresh. It will save you all the hassle of stuff getting damaged in transit............ anything you buy new over here will have a warranty............ you can even buy on an 18 month interest free no deposit basis if you like?

Good old Harvey Norman!

Obviously bring anything of a personal nature with you.......... anything that holds sentimental value or is unique................ but as for furniture.......... white goods......... electrical items.............. we gave everything to charity and bought new stuff.

Heaps of real fair dinkum Christmas trees when in season................. big sign outside a house on Wanneroo Rd north of the shopping centre advertising same............. he puts the sign out in his garden each year advertising a nearby pine plantation sale.

Just keep in mind that unless your get your timing perfect you'll need to buy those items that you can't live without until your own stuff arrives in Oz

It's amazing how much stuff falls into this category to :)

I wrote a blog entry on the subject a while back, if your flat packing anything remember what you did with the screws ;)

We didn't bring our fridge freezer 'cos they were built in - but brought our washer and dryer and practically everything else.

Put any screws in a plastic bag and tape them to the box!

we have an american fridge freezer here in the uk but are thinking of buying a brand new one to ship out with us (gas friendly) as my brother and sister have told us that they are so expensive out there
