You are moving to Perth exactly the same day as us....We are flying to Dubai from Glasgow and onto Perth. I don't know about you but emotions are really high at the moment. Our 7 year old daughter Jade is quite sad at the moment and I burst into tears more or less every other day!!!
We are also looking to rent in Tapping/Joondalup area but finding it quite difficult.
How are you feeling about the move? Have you sold your house?
We move out of our house on 7th Dec and into the In Laws......!!!!
I can't believe it's only 5 weeks today!!!!!
Take care

Hi Elaine,
You will be out for the New Years Eve then? Have you got a holiday rental sorted? We live in Ashby which is next door to Tapping and it is nice.
Good luck with the stay at the inlaws. I don't envy you.

Yeah, we have holiday rental in Currambine in a holiday flat. We found it really difficult to find a house but when we thought about it, it's only for 10 days. We will need to look for accommodation within that time. To be honest I'm a bit sceptical about taking on a long term rental over the internet without seeing it.
I see your kids are similar in age to our daughter, did they all settle okay? Jade is really emotional at the moment and it's pulling my heart strings!!!!!
Take care

Flights are booked arrive on 30.12.07 which means we will probably have bad jet lag on New Years Eve. Who Cares!
We have secured a holiday rental for 8 days in currambine.
We will look for Rentals while we are in there.
I was wondering how other people are feeling or have felt at the 4 weeks before period, I feel its a time to reflect on the things and reasons why I am going to the other side of the world away from my Mother and Father. I know why and so do they, they back me and cant wait for them to come over and see why I made the decision. I want to see my children grow up in what i belive is in a better place although I am realistic enough to realise they have their own problems.
My fiancee is Australian and a gem, this is the reason for me coming over and I am so excited and ready for the biggest change of my life which I will accept and move forward.
I will not be a winging pom who comes on here and forgot why they decided to make the move in the first place (no offence to those who feel like that).
I myself I like pubs but they are not the be all and end all of life, I love beer and will be chilling round the pool sitting out and listening the sounds, looking at the blue sky and working for the new life.
I love motorbikes, boats, surfing, outdoors and my passion for fishing I have been watching rex hunt for over 8 years and I will be catching in that blue indian ocean with a cold beer!
OH & myself are part of a motorbike club in Perth that organises ALOT of events and everyone is really friendly and there's a huge age range.
I hope you can organise a rental in 8 days. Alot need to be done and the rental market is far from friendly at the moment But thats good you have a secured a holiday rental at least.
If I can be of help in any way, yell out! I also work for a car dealer (but suck at it ) and have some contacts in real estate (not up Joondalup way unfortunately)
Almost everything is sorted, we have rental in Currambine also for 10 nights and fly out on 29th December. We are really excited and scared at the same time. Our priority is finding a school for our daughter and a house to rent and then Steven is going to find work beginning of Feb, he is a carpenter/joiner and I hope there is plenty work for him.
Do you enjoy life in Perth?

I can share your feelings. We are in exactly the same position as you and I'm really emotional with my family at the moment. My mum and dad have told me that they don't want me to go, they also understand that I want to give our daughter the best life we can but as they don't keep very well they won't be coming over which is pretty heart breaking.
We will be staying at "The Grange" in Currambine from 30th December until 9th January.
I can't believe that everything is happening so quick, I finish up work next Thursday, move out of our home on the Friday and into the in laws!!!!
I hope you're all sorted..............with Christmas too!!!!!
Take care

Hi Elaine,
Just seen your message. My son is 6 and will be 7 in April, he has settled really well as has are other child who is 3. We have already made great friends with the couple who came over on the same flight as us from Dubai. They are from Dundee and are great. we never actually spoke to them till over a week later in a shopping centre in Joondalup, we now live 6 doors away. They have 3 kids and one of them is a girl aged 7 and she would love to make new friends. They all go to the same school in Tapping which is fantastic.
If you need any help when you arrive or just want to meet up give me a shout.
Sarah

When you are looking for a rental, we found it helpful to have references with us, didn't think we would need them but houses are so scarce I found it lwas better. Bring them with you if you can and have quite a few copies of them. You need copies of your driving licence, passport and visa. A copy of a bank statement showing your funds is also good as is you last work reference and character references.
You have to fill in a long form which takes a while and the hardest part is trying to view the houses in the first place. You phone the agent and they say they will get back to you when they have a viewing time. They wait until they have loads of people to view at the same time which is really weird, walking around with strangers. Also some of the houses that you view are not available straight away which is hard when you have a dealine. The first house that we got accepted on which was in Butler, we had to turn it down as it wasn't ready for 3 days after we had to leave our holiday accommodation. As my OH was working there was no way I was taking the kids to a hotel with 7 large suitcases and staying there all day on my own.
