Hi Sarah, Bobcat
Thanks for the offer of a meet up, which we certainly will be doing. What is Ashby like? Are you renting or have you bought? we have friends who have just moved a bit south from you in Hocking, we will be around the Waneroo area. Do you know the nearest schools in Hocking we need a primary and secondary school. Would they be able to go to Schools in Joondalup?
Thanks

Smile Heading for Perth? We are too!

Hi Dave and family

Best of luck with your move to Perth. Myself, my wife and our daughter are waiting for our visas to be processed, but realistically, we may be looking at Oct / Nov 08 before we leave.

How long did your visa application take in total? As I am a school teacher, we have applied for the Skilled Independent visa (applied Sep07) and are currently playing a waiting game.

Have you sold up lock, stock and barrel, or are you keeping the house here in Uk for a while and renting? At the moment, we think we're likely to sell up total as properties in Perth seem to be rising in value at a similar rate to those in UK.

Our daughter, Olivia aged 11 is likely to be spending a month/ 6 weeks in year 7 at high school here before we head off. We have gradually built up the idea of migrating to Oz in her mind over the last 6 months and she is finally recognising the reality to come - she's still positive and excited about going. How did you prepare your children? Any tips which worked especially for you?

No doubt your very busy right now, but I would be grateful for a short reply if you get the chance.

Many thanks

The school in Joondalup is not close to Hocking. You would be able to drive but probably wouldn't be in the catchment area. Ashby is nice, just houses etc but 10 mins from the beach and Lakeside shopping centre at Joondalup. We are renting as we still have our house in the uk and rent that out there. My son goes to Tapping primary school which is new and still fairly small. He loves it there.

Not sure if Hocking has a school, if not I think they fall under Wanneroo which has primary and secondary.

Closest School to Hocking would be Woodvale............... and an excellent school it is too.

Hi Bobcat,
Thanks for your help. If we moved to Hocking would my eldest be able to go to Woodvale, is it within the catchment area, also was wondering what Edgewater primary was like.
Thanks

Hi Dave, Lisa and Family

You are moving to Perth exactly the same day as us....We are flying to Dubai from Glasgow and onto Perth. I don't know about you but emotions are really high at the moment. Our 7 year old daughter Jade is quite sad at the moment and I burst into tears more or less every other day!!!

We are also looking to rent in Tapping/Joondalup area but finding it quite difficult.

How are you feeling about the move? Have you sold your house?

We move out of our house on 7th Dec and into the In Laws......!!!!

I can't believe it's only 5 weeks today!!!!!

Take care

Elaine x

Sorry........... I don't know anything about schools in Edgewater.

Re the catchment areas........... we lived first at Wanneroo and then Carramar.......... and all three of our boys went to Woodvale Senior High................ and they did it on a musical scholarship.

We have friends in Carramar and Tapping and their children too go to Woodvale Senior High. some are doing the musical programme............ others have entered via the Soccer scholarship........... and even Basketball?

Weather isn't nice at present................. it's far too hot!!!
