Hi Lisa,

Sorry only just seen your message. We've been in Leeming almost a year (In fact the children finish their first year of school in Aus today). We took a short term rental advertised on a web site for 12 weeks (a bit like a holiday let).- I know someone has mentioned to me recently that they don't know if it's working or not now as they haven't had any contact). I'm not sure what the rental situation is in this suburb but look on realestate.com.au and it will give you an idea. We found somewhere to buy within 2 weeks of being here and moved in by the end of our rented lease.

We moved to Bunbury in October and we absolutely love it down here. Its two hours south of Perth at the moment and if you are looking for a quieter life than a largish city then Bunbury might just be the place you want to move to. Housing is cheaper here than Perth - try looking at Dalyellup or Treendale which are both brand new housing estates. Everywhere you travel you are only about 10 minutes from the beach or countryside. Our daily drive to work from Dalyellup to Bunbury takes a whole 15 minutes which is amazing and there are plenty of shops here and if you want a big department store then you just have to drive up to Freemantle or Perth but to be honest there's enough here. There is a huge beach in Dalyellup which is in walking distance of the estate and there are plenty more beaches in the surrounding areas, plus an estuary where people kite surf and wind surf on weekends.

We'd highly recommend living down south it just depends on your reason for coming to Oz. The schools in Dalyellup are all brand new and the hospitals in Bunbury are under 3 years old.

We've also got friends from the UK who have a young family and they arrived at the end of September and they love it here as well.

One thing I would recommend is that you find rented accommodation before you arrive as the houses literally get snapped up. It took us nearly six weeks to find something that suited us and our stuff arrived from the UK two weeks ago and its so lovely to have all your things around you.

Good luck with your decisions. What type of work are you looking for as O/H company is looking for people within the engineering business and they wiill sponsor people to come down.

Bunbury is about 2 hours away from where we live, I've not beeen there (just drove past to Bussleton), but hubby had to work down there - he said it was a lovely place and to be honest there seem to be a lot more people heading that way recently. For me, it was just too far from the job offers we'd had. Alot of people seem to get a holiday let for a few weeks so they have a base. I'd say that if you were thinking of doing this for more than a couple of weeks, barter and see if you can get a better price.
