somewhere to rent for 3 weeks??

Hi Guys,
Looking for abit help if possible? were heading out for 3 weeks next June/July to get a feel for the place get an idea of areas, schools etc etc and need somewhere to stay. We would prefer to rent a house instead of stay in a hotel so we get a good feel for it, or would peple recommend a hotel and take it a little more leisurely? Either way if anyone has advice on places to stay hotels or homes to rent then please fill us in Any help definately appreciated as we want to get booked asap flight prices are out and want to book the two things at the same time!
